Saturday February 23, 2008 thought for the day



"COME UNTO ME.....I WILL GIVE YOU REST!"
Here are my thoughts for today-
1-Because God is with you all the time, no place is any closer to God than where you are right now-
2-Everything you do can be spending time with God if he is invited to be a part of it-
3-Practicing the presence of God takes skill for you must train your mind to think on him-
4-Jesus is either a corner stone or a stumbling block-
5-Sin distorts priorities in devastating ways-

Strange thoughts-be sure and keep your words soft and sweet in case you have to eat them-

I've learned-it is best to buy the expensive paint that covers in one coat-

5 things I want to know
1-What separates worry and concern?
2-Is it possible to never ever worry?
3-How do we find "childlike" faith?
4-Why do so few people have peace of mind?
5-How can we understand God as father if we don't have a good human father figure?

"JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN"

1-Worshiping God insincerely is hypocrisy-
2-If worship is mindless it is meaningless-
3-Passive worship is an oxymoron-
4-Knowing and loving God is our greatest privilege-
5-Worship is not an event to attend but an attitude-

Strange thought-the heaviest thing I can carry is a grudge-

I've learned-the only thing you owe life is to become the best you can be-

5 things I want to know
1-Is it possible to not be anxious about anything?
2-Can only the strong be gentle?
3-Is the word "joy" strictly a Christian term?
4-Is it possible to find words to express our feelings?
5-Where and how is happiness found?

1-A half hearted commitment is really no commitment-
2-With God it is all or nothing-
3-Where you worship is not as important as why you worship-
4-Heartless praise is no praise at all-it is an insult to God-
5-God hates hypocrisy-

Strange thought-the best vitamin for making friends is b 1-

I've learned-the more a child feels valued, the better his values will be-

5 things I want to know
1-Can we become desensitized to sin by our culture?
2-What does it take to get us to desire to walk as close to Jesus as possible?
3-What is meant by "living for God"?
4-How do you "rejoice in the Lord"?
5-Can you be tough and gentle at the same time?

1-It isn't what you say that proves the reality of your faith, it's what you do-
2-It is blasphemy to profess Jesus if your life doesn't back it up-
3-True christian experience transforms into true christian actions-
4-The epitome of taking the lord's name in vain is not cursing but claiming Jesus as Christ when he really isn't-
5-The heart of the matter is the matter of the heart-

Strange thought-of all the things I wear, my expression is the most important-

I've learned-work enjoyed is as much fun as leisure-

5 things I want to know
1-How is the bible "a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path"?
2-Is it possible to have so much spiritual freedom we are in bondage and don't know it?
3-When we subject our minds to evil do we also subject Jesus to it?
4-Is there such a thing as good music and bad music-
5-What is "glorious freedom"?

Here are my thoughts for today-
1-Salvation isn't the result of an intellectual experience-
2-The life we live not the words we say determine our eternal destiny-
3-A mere verbal expression of faith is self deception-
4-To call yourself a christian and not be obedient to God's word is an illusion-
5-Confession without obedience is a sham-

Strange thought-if you want your dreams to come true you must not over sleep-

I've learned-when you buy an old "project" house you spend more time at the hardware store than you do at home-

5 things I want to know
1-Did my soul exist before I was born?
2-How is it that we keep what we give away?
3-Do we have to go through tough times to know Jesus love?
4-Is the quantity of our faith important?
5-Why do problems in our life cause questions in our mind?

"SAY PLEASE"


Here are my thoughts for today-
1-Trust is not given, it is to be earned-
2-Hope-faith holding our hand in the dark-
3-We need to introduce people to Jesus and let Jesus clean them up-
4-Choose one thing to do for Jesus and do it with all your being-
5-Faith and works-both must be in place to work the tight rope of life-

Strange thought-those who dance are considered crazy by those who can't hear the music-

I've learned-the time to read the instructions is before you put the swing set together-

5 things I want to know
1-Is the key to the abortion issue-murder, right to life, freedom of choice or when the body has a soul?
2-When does a fetus take on the "image of God" and receive a "soul"?
3-Since the ability to think and reason separates man from the animals, is the mind what is known as the soul?
4-Is the abortion issue an "always " and "never" situation?
5-Do all aspects of morality have never changing absolutes?

Scripture for today-"These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" (John20:31)

1-Given enough time most problems tend to resolve themselves-
2-Insecurity causes you to leave a way of escape in places you enjoy-
3-It is one thing to know about pain and another to experience it-
4-Be sure you know where you sit before you tell someone where to stand-
5-There is supernatural power in agreement-

Strange thought-middle age is when broadness of the mind and narrowness of the waist change places-

I've learned-there is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs

5 things I want to know
1-Should there be a distinction in the mind of the Christian between spiritual and secular?
2-Is there a difference in taking a life and failing to save it?
3-Should the right to life depend on the circumstances of conception?
4-When does a soul enter a life?
5-Does the word murder only apply to humans?

1-It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark-
2-Seven days without laughter makes one weak-
3-Grace-God gives us what we don't deserve
Mercy-God doesn't give us what we do deserve-
4-The offspring of being cautious is insecurity-
5-Don't choose permanent solutions to temporary situations-

Strange thought-if you look like your passport picture you probably need the trip-

I've learned-being a grandparent is God's compensation for growing older-

5 things I want to know
1-How do we know when we are doing something "in Christ"?
2-What is true worship?
3-How do you know when you have wisdom?
4-Is the Christian assured their trials will produce good in their life?
5-Are all Christians prejudiced?

I've learned-you can tell a lot about a man by the way he handles these 5 things-a rainy holiday,
lost luggage, tangled Christmas tree lights, a wrecked auto and a rude waiter-

1-Is more ever enough?
2-Is there a difference in being a disciple or a believer?
3-Does repentance save you?
4-Can you love what you don't understand?
5-If you can't meet everyone's needs, how do you know who to help?

4-Our life is really not about us-
5-It is easy to sing when you are happy-

Strange thought-love doesn't require two people to look at each other but that they look together
in the same direction-

I've learned-the exact size drill bit I need is always the one missing from the set-

1-Why do Christians participate in the non Christian traditions of-Christmas-Easter-Halloween-etc?
2-Why is Sunday the day of worship, would another day be okay?
3-Is Sunday more holy than the other 6 days?
4-Is fasting the giving up of food?
5-Do others know us as Christians or church goers?

I've learned-what a child learns at home lasts until they die-

1-How do we learn to get to the place of "whatsoever state I am therewith to be content"?
2-Does every problem have a spiritual basis?
3-How long can you go without sinning?
4-Is there a right and wrong answer to every problem?
5-What is unconditional love?

3-Is spiritual stability related to emotional stability?
4-Can spiritual problems come from physical and emotional weakness?
5-Is there an infallible sign of the presence of God?

I've learned-happiness is a like perfume, you can't give it away without getting a little on yourself-

1-If Christians are all God's children, then why are we so divided?
2-How much prayer is enough?
3-Is it a sin to eat food that is unhealthy or harmful to the body?
4-Can we become Christian fanatics?
5-Is there commitment without love?

1-Compromise-preference over principle-
2-Testing shows if what you say is what you believe-
3-Compromise is not an isolated event but becomes a way of life-
4-Backsliding begins with compromise-
5-We need to raise the sails of our life so the winds of the holy spirit can move us along to where
God wants us to be-

Strange thought-when a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don't throw away your ticket and jump off--you sit still and trust the engineer-

I've learned-moving away from my closest friends was much harder than I thought it would be-

5 things I want to know
1-Why do we think someone is unbiblical when they do not agree with our theology?
2-Can we ever give ourselves completely to God?
3-How can we be assured the bible is God's word to us?
4-Why do we hear more preaching against sinful acts than for spirit filled acts?
5-Is the church guilty of mind control?

2-Compromise-choosing something lesser over something better-
3-Compromise-giving up something important to you to get something you want more-
4-When you compromise with evil you always lose-
5-Christians should never be intimidated to witness about their faith-

Strange thought-we often try to fix problems with wd-40 and duct tape-God did it with nails-

I've learned-big problems always start off small-

1-Is it possible to give too much tithe or offerings?
2-When we criticize others are we judging them?
3-Should tithe always be given first even if it means other things are left unpaid?
4-Would you steal food to keep your children from going hungry?
5-Is the church looking for conformists rather than individual thinkers?

1-Can sin be defined away from the bible?
2-Can we spiritualize all of our problems?
3-Is the church more concerned with preserving the faith than saving the lost?
4-How can we criticize someone when we have not walked in their shoes?
5-Is it true that the more we give ourselves to God the more we have to give to others?

Here are my thoughts for today-
1-Nobody can do everything-
2-The church was never intended to be a "country club" for christians-
3-The church should be God's new society-
4-It is only when laws demand we deny our faith or compromise our christian standards that we should
refuse to obey them for the sake of Jesus-
5-If there is no hell, Jesus death was a tragic sacrifice-

Strange thought-everyone wants to have truth on their side but few want to be on the side of truth-

I've learned-a daily 30 minute walk is the easiest and most beneficial thing you can do for your health-

5 things I want to know
1-Is what the bible calls our "heart" really our mind?
2-Is there really power in the name of Jesus?
3-Does it matter what name we use in our prayers-Jesus-God-Father-Savior-Lord-etc?
4-Do we live like "I'd rather have Jesus..."
5-Why don't we as Christians take a proactive stand against social sins?

1-The bible tells us all we need to know about God-
2-For all its wonder and beauty, nature doesn't give us many details about God-
3-Because Jesus was God, he showed us what God is like and because he was human we can understand
Him-
4-Loving is the likeness of God which people ought to see in his children-
5-Christians should be the most loving and giving people of all-

Strange thought-when people suffer they ask "why me?', but when they prosper they never ask "why me?'-

I've learned-I don't make many mistakes with my mouth shut-

5 things I want to know
1-Why do we so soon forget what God has done for us?
2-Are we all prodigal sons in some way?
3-Can we be reconciled to God and not be reconciled to our brother?
4-Can agape love be shown to non Christians?
5-Are things right because the bible says so or does the bible say so because things are right?

I've learned-all transactions and relationships are enriched by courtesy-

1-Why does the joy of our salvation tend to fade out?
2-Does unwavering faith guarantee answers to our prayers?
3-How can we turn doubts into victory?
4-Why is it the more we do for someone the more we like them?
5-How important is it to reach the "right" people with the gospel?

4-We are never more ourselves than when we live out the Christian experience-
5-We are only tempted in our own areas of weakness-

Strange thought-it is not the jeans that make your behind look fat-it is the fat-

I've learned-never try out a new recipe on guests-

5 things I want to know
1-Is the lack of emphasis the same as de-emphasis?
2-Who are the best christians?
3-What would happen to us if we looked at other people through the eyes of Jesus?
4-Why are so many christians critical people?
5-Should we ever give out of duty rather than love?

"WHOOPS"
We had a major snow storm last night and it is still snowing this morning-we had at least 12"-what fun I am going to have later trying to shovel my driveway-it will probably take at least 3-4 hours-makes me tired already just thinking about it!-here are my thoughts for today-
1-It is the Holy Spirit that makes us hungry for God-
2-People often need to feel some disappointment in their life before they will admit they need God-
3-Salvation is free but not cheep-
4-Becoming a christian is not turning over a new leaf, it is starting a new life-
5-Repentance is more than being sorry for our wrongdoing but a turning away from it-

Strange thought-opportunities always look bigger going than coming-

I've learned-you shouldn't brag about one of your children in the presence of another-

5 things I want to know
1-When we pray should we seek the gift or the giver?
2-Is God hard to find if you sincerely seek him?
3-How can you pray when you have no words to say?
4-Is God only a prayer away?
5-Is our salvation free or does it cost us something?
