1-Many a choice whine is the product of sour grapes-

2-How we have been and how we are is not how we will be-

3-God dipped his great pen in the blood of his only son and wrote-LOVE-in big bold letters across all the ages-

4-The greater the obstacle the more glory in overcoming it-

5-A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Never miss a good chance to shut up-

 

I'VE LEARNED-We should not be fascinated with our possessions, lest they possess us-

 

DID YOU KNOW-Chewing gum while peeling onions will keep you from crying-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-How many robes (change of clothing) did Jesus have?

2-Did Jesus and his disciples do their own laundry?

3-When Jesus was doing ministry, where did he eat and sleep?

4-What would you do differently if you could go back and do things over?

5-Did Jesus say anything specifically about homosexuality?

1-Mercy is God's ministry to the miserable-

2-The only place outside of heaven you can be perfectly safe from all danger of love is hell-

3-Faith is not acceptance without proof it is trust without reservation- 

4-To love at all is to be vulnerable-

5-It doesn't take a great athlete to be a good sport-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-There are two theories to arguing with a woman and neither one works-

 

I'VE LEARNED-Whenever we ask God to forgive our sins, we should ask ourselves "Have I forgiven those who have wronged me".

 

DID YOU KNOW-Nutmeg is extremely poisonous if injected intravenously-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-Can or does Jesus forgive our sin before it is committed?

2-Does Jesus forgive us of our "inbred sin/old nature"?

3-Does Jesus forgive us of our sins or does God do so through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus?

4-Why do Christians spend so much effort and money to better themselves or acquire more new things?

5-What does it mean to "life a holy life"?

1-Fear disappears when faith appears-

2-Enjoy today for sometime, today will be a long time ago-

3-Truth that is heard and not acted upon will have a dangerous reaction-

4-Don't confuse noise with enthusiasm-

5-It is never too late to start doing what is right-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Never kick a cow chip on a hot day-

 

I'VE LEARNED-All Christians struggle with temptation-

 

DID YOU KNOW-You should not eat a crawfish with a straight trail.  It was dead before it was cooked-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-Is there one scripture verse that summarizes Jesus' life?

2-If I have the mind of Christ, why do I still have so bad thoughts-

3-Can we be saved and still have our hearts and mind unchanged?

4-Was it hard for Jesus to trust Thomas knowing he would one day question Jesus' resurrection?

5-Was Jesus ever disappointed in any of his disciples beside Peter and Thomas?

I'VE LEARNED-God doesn't lead us into temptation, but he sometimes allows us to be tested by them-

 

DID YOU KNOW-The liquid inside young coconuts can be used as a substitute  for blood plasma in an emergency-

1-Is it possible to live minute by minute in the presence of God?

2-How do we get a hope filled heart?

3-What does it mean "to see Jesus"?

4-Wherever did we get the idea we cannot change?

5-What was Jesus' one main goal in his life?

I'VE LEARNED-If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself-

1-When Jesus washed the disciples feet, did he use the same water for all 12 disciples?

2-Did Jesus forgive the disciples of their sin before their becoming a disciple?

3-Was it hard for Jesus to love Peter, knowing Peter would one day curse him?

4-Did Jesus ever have a desire to replace any of his disciples?

5-Why did Jesus often withdraw to lonely places to pray?

1-Children are always the only future the human race has-

2-Common sense is instinct-enough of it is genius-

3-Marriage is like taking vitamins-we supplement each others minimum daily requirements-

4-No one can make you feel inferior without your consent-

5-Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it is the only thing-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Time is what keeps everything from happening at once-

 

I'VE LEARNED-If we have hope, we cope.  If we don't we mope-

 

DID YOU KNOW-Japan is the largest exporter of frog legs-

1-Did Jesus need to worship?

2-What exactly is worship?

3-Is it okay for different christian people groups to worship in different ways?

4-Who or what can be worshipped?

5-Does God have goals?

1-All relationships of value begin with commitment-

2-Faith is most meaningful when expressed in the dark-

3-Hiding wrong won't erase it for it only postpones its discovery-

4-A man's judgement is only as good as his information-

5-God gave us memories so we might have roses in December-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-In order to have great happiness, you have to have great pain and unhappiness, otherwise how would you know when you are happy-

 

I'VE LEARNED-It is hard to walk in shifting sand-

 

DID YOU KNOW-The glue on Israeli postage stamps is certified kosher-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-Does "eternal life" have to do with duration of life or with quality of life?

2-If we never act on our beliefs, can we say that we truly value them?

3-What is the difference in tolerance and accommodation?

4-We need to ask ourselves "Are there any relationships in our life that are thirsty for mercy".

5-How did Jesus worship?  If it was different from ours, why is ours different?

4-Your care for others is the measure of your greatness-

5-Jesus definition of love-giving and serving-

STRANGE THOUGHT-People say that money isn't the key to happiness , but if you have enough money, can you have a key made?

I'VE LEARNED-If a seasoning has no flavor, it has no value-

DID YOU KNOW-More than half of the difference types of cheese in the world come from France-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-Does God bless deceit?

2-Did Jesus have any unanswered prayer?

3-Does Jesus still speak audibly to people today?

4-Just what is the "abundant life" Jesus talked about?  

5- If the rebellious angels were thrown out of heaven, why didn't God put them on a planet outside of our galaxy?

1-What is a "Good and noble heart" as mentioned in scripture?

2-Is the heart or mind the source of our emotion?

3-What was the "righteousness of the pharisees" that Jesus referred to?

4-Where is our conscience located?

2-When you come to the place I'm all you have you'll find I am all you need-Jesus-

3-There is no greater sorrow than to recall a time of happiness while in misery-

4-There is no repentance in the grave-

5-Remember, when the judgement is weak, the prejudice is strong-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-How can one careless match start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a camp fire?

 

I'VE LEARNED-Yield the right of way-

 

DID YOU KNOW-If China imported just 10 percent of its rice needs, the price on the world market would increase by 80 percent-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-Did the Roman soldiers who crucified Jesus have any feeling about the "Christ" they were killing?

2-The cross was never meant to be the only or even the central symbol of Christianity.  The resurrection was.  So, why did it become so 400 years after Jesus' life?

3-Is wisdom enough to live a christian life?

4-How many different emotions can the "heart" have?

5-What does it mean "to be pure in heart", and how can you be this way?

1-Why does Paul refer to Jesus as the last Adam and the second man.  What did he mean?

2-What would have happened to Adam/Eve if Adam had refused the forbidden fruit from Eve?

4-What does the Bible mean saying "The first Adam was only a pattern of those to come"?

5-Why is the Friday before Easter called "Good Friday"?

1-Don't be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good-

2-A person can accomplish most anything if they have unlimited enthusiasm-

3-I love others for who I am not for who they are-

4-My love for others is not dependant on their love for me-

5-Sensitive people share the sufferings of others-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Things are more like they are today than they ever have been before-

 

I'VE LEARNED-Envy is a waste of time.  Accept what you already have, not what you want-

 

DID YOU KNOW-China is the world's largest producer and consumer of fresh pork-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-How much of the mid east did the Garden of Eden cover?

2-When God sent the 10 plagues on pharaoh and the Egyptians, did he target the Egyptian gods?

3-Why don't we see more of God's power in the life of so many Christians?

4-Can joy be found in the midst of suffering?

5-What is a "soul"?

1-Gods grace is never a reward for our good works-

2-Non retaliation is not intended to encourage the violent to victimize the powerless, it is the means for over coming evil with good-

3-Something is wrong when we let our children run wild and yet take our dogs to obedience school-

4-You will have a bent bow if you keep the bow bent-

5-Absence is to love what wind is to fire.  It extinguishes the small and kindles the great-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Statistics show that at the age of 70, there are five women to every man.  Isn't that an ironic time for a guy to get those odds?

 

I'VE LEARNED-If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back-

 

DID YOU KNOW-In the United States the number one topping for pizza is pepperoni-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW-  

1-By drowning all the sinners with the great flood, did God really eradicate sin from the earth?

2-When God caused the great flood, Noah and family were saved in the ark.  Were some or all of his extended family sinful people?

3-Why had there never been rain on the earth prior to the great flood?

4-If all vegetation was covered with water in the great flood for months, how could it regrow when the flooding evaporated?

5-If all earth was covered in water, did the fish and sea creatures swim to different oceans than what was their home waters?

1-God exists more than he is imagined and is truly imagined more than he is expressed-

2-God's power produces victory-

3-God has revealed to us all we need to know about him to love and serve him-

4-Praise produces God's presence and God's presence produces God's power-

5-Having material things for sure doesn't mean you have God's blessings-

1-Who were the women who married "the sons of God" in Genesis?

2-When after the expulsion from Eden did the marriages of "sons of God" and human women take place?

3-The Bible says the children of the marriages of "sons of God" and human women became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times.  Who were these people?

4-Were the "sons of God" the children of Seth and not Cain who killed his brother?

5-At the end of ten generations, people became so sinful that "the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on earth".  Didn't God know ahead of time how people would turn out?

 

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who said “Anyone who can read this writing and explain it will receive purple clothes fit for a king and a gold chain around his neck. And I will make that person the third highest ruler in the kingdom?”

2-Who is the good Samaritan in your life-

3-Grief hollows out the heart to make room for the joy that is coming-

4-Holiness is becoming more like the character of Christ-

5-You can't think wrong and live right-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you-

 

I'VE LEARNED-All that matters in the end is that you truly loved-

1-How could Eve's sin of disobedience affect her yet to be born children?

2-Where in a newborn's body is a sinful nature?

3-The Bible says that when Adam sinned, sin entered the world.  Why not when Eve first ate the forbidden fruit?

4-Wasn't there sin in the world before Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit.  After all, the serpent was evil and sinful?

5-What "sons of God" married human women in Genesis?

Father, the pit is a horrible place, but may your comforting presence and all sufficient grace transform this season with a bit of sweetness.  Being in the pit may not be painless or quick.  But with your help, and by your grace, I know you will get me through.  Amen.

1-Getting what you go after is success but liking it after you get it is happiness-

2-We can never prove our worthiness to receive salvation-

3-The word husband means "care taker/provider"-

4-Jesus denies his followers the right to love only those they consider good-

5-Life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-I live in my own little world but it is okay, they all know me here-

 

I'VE LEARNED-Your children get only one childhood-

 

DID YOU KNOW-Yogurt intake among North Americans has quadrupled in the past twenty years-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-When God told Adam and Eve they would die if they ate the forbidden fruit, how would they know what that meant?

2-In the Garden of Eden, did food grow naturally without any attention from Adam?

3-Did Adam and Eve need shelter to live in, in the Garden of Eden?

4-Did the Garden of Eden's forbidden fruit contain a chemical that tripped our DNA sin switch, causing all humans to have a sinful nature or original sin?

5-How did sin get such a grip on mankind?

 

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who said, "Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near my house; and I will give you for it a better vineyard"?

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Father, despite your great faithfulness, your wisdom, and your good plans for me, I can find it hard to wait and hard to trust.  Forgive me, and help my unbelief!
