Sunday November 30, 2008 thought for the day



Here are my thoughts for today-
1-Pharisaical sin is so dangerous because it disguises itself as a form of light-
2-Ever notice how everything wrong in the world is someone else's fault-
3-Being faithful is not being perfect for faithfulness allows for failure and perfection does not-
4-Sometimes we listen to our own lies so much we begin to sincerely believe them-
5-We need to see ourselves through other peoples eyes to see ourselves as we really are-

Strange thought-Laziness is a habit of resting before you get tired-

I've learned-all sorrow is not the same-

5 things I want to know
1-Do the moral failures of a Christian annul their spiritual birth?
2-When did Jesus know he was God?
3-Did Jesus have to be born Jewish?
4-Why did Jesus need or want to be baptized?
5-Why are tax collectors and sinners used in the same sentence in scripture?

Scripture for today-The Lord gives wisdom: from his mouth come knowledge and understanding Proverbs 2:6

A BEAUTIFUL FALL SCENE
Here are my thoughts for today
1-Rich gifts mean nothing when givers prove unkind-
2-Enthusiasm is a great gift to give your children-
3-Giving is a necessity, sometimes more urgent than having-
4-God is bigger than what is the matter-
5-Recognition of sin is not repentance,
Sorrow for sin is not repentance,
Attempting to forsake sin is not repentance,
Asking for forgiveness and turning away from sin is repentance-

Strange thought-be true to your teeth or the will be false to you-

I've learned-all attitudes should be bathed in gratitude-

5 things I want to know
1-Is Babylon in Revelations a city or a culture?
2-In what areas should Christians be liberal?
3-Are some people predestined by God to suffer?
4-Why did Jesus use spit and dirt to heal the blind man by the pool of Siloam?
5-Why do some people seem to be given more than their share of misfortune?

LORD, WE ARE TRULY THANKFUL
Here are my thoughts for today-
1-The end result of kindness is that it draws people to you-
2-It is not fair to ask of others what you are unwilling to do yourself-
3-Give to every human being every right that you claim for yourself-
4-We turn older with years but newer each day-
5-Give what you have, for to someone it may be better than you dare to think-

Strange thought-all of us at one time or another come face to face with our past-

I've learned-Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves-

5 things I want to know
1-Was Jesus a "conservative" or a "liberal"?
2-Was Jesus a revolutionary?
3-Why are many Christians uncomfortable in explaining what we believe and why?
4-Was Jesus always loving?
5-What are the foolish things, weak things, lowly things and despised things that God chose to shame the wise, strong, etc. with?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF YOU
Here are my thoughts for today-
1-God doesn't just forgive, he also forgets-He clears the computer-
2-Tomorrows joy is fathered by today's acceptance-
3-Faith is the bird that songs while it is yet dark-
4-When no one will give you the time of day, God gives you the time of your life-
5-A joyful life is an individual creation that cannot be copied from a recipe-

Strange thought-a hospital is a paradoxical place-it is where the reality is hidden, yet cannot be hidden because the reality is too real-

I've learned-insensitivity make a wound that heals slowly-

5 things I want to know
1-Will God's cup of mercy ever run dry?
2-Is it okay to question God?
3-Does God require unquestioned behavior?
4-What is the difference in a prophet and a seer?
5-Do we wander in our own wilderness when we disobey God?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TOMORROW
Here are my thoughts for today-
1-A faithful friend is a rare treasure-
2-Change brings fear before it brings faith-
3-We often interpret the presence of a problem as the absence of God-
4-Most people suffer some form of blindness (other than physical)-
5-In becoming man, God made it possible for man to see God-

Strange thought-if a rabbit's foot is lucky, what happened to the rabbit?

I've learned- if you don't know how to drive, don't buy a Ferrari-

5 things I want to know
1-How could anyone, including Jesus, endure the horror of a crucifixion?
2-Why did Jesus have to go through the crucifixion and not some other kind of death and resurrection?
3-Why did Peter go fishing after he denied he knew Jesus?
4-Why did God not allow Paul to go to Spain as he wanted?
5-Wasn't going to a roman jail instead of Spain a disappointment for Paul?

Here are my thoughts for today
1-If you want to improve your relationship with your spouse, see love as a verb rather than as a feeling-
2-A formula for a successful relationship-treat all disasters as if they are trivial, but never treat a trivial as if it is a disaster-
3-All we really need to do to feel closer to someone is to pay closer attention to what it is they are saying-
4-When all hope is gone there is Easter dawn-
5-When facing a mountain, it is a hill from heavens point of view-

Strange thought-people who like sausage or respect the law should never watch either being made-

I've learned-when you live by yourself, all your annoying habits are gone-

5 things I want to know
1-Is it real humility that makes people great?
2-Are humility and self esteem related?
3-What did David mean by -the valley of the "shadow" of death?
4-Did Jesus feel fear before and during the crucifixion?
5-If Jesus knew his destiny, why did he ask God to take away his "cup of suffering"?

Happy Thanksgiving
Here are my thoughts for today
1-Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong-
2-Force is all conquering but it's victories are short lived-
3-Never confuse movement with action-
4-Man's mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions-
5-Take time to deliberate, but when the time for action arrives, stop thinking and do-

Strange thought-if money is burning a hole in your picket, it's not a new pair of pants you need-

I've learned-if everyone says a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing-

5 things I want to know
1-Does the term "entire sanctification" infer there is partial sanctification?
2-What does the Biblical phrase mean "God will harden whom he wants to harden"?
3-Does Jesus command to "turn the other cheek" require the abused to accept additional abuse?
4-Does a Christian person have the right to resist an evil person?
5-Are Christians not to defend themselves in court but leave their vindication to God as Jesus did?

1-Wise men talk because they have something to say, foolish men talk because they have to say something-
2-A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty-
3-Observe your enemies for they are the first to see your faults-
4-It is so much easier to be critical than to be correct-
5-If you haven't the strength to impose your own terms on life, you must accept the terms it offers you-

Strange thought-People who aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves seldom lose their shirts-

I've learned-An expert is one who is called in at the last minute to share the blame-

5 things I want to know
1-Some portions of the New Testament have footnotes saying this portion was not included with the earliest reliable manuscripts, so how and why was it included?
2-Mark is reported to be the earliest gospel written but it's original manuscript makes no reference to any resurrection appearances--why?
3-When was the first New Testament scripture written after Jesus's resurrection?
4-Is there any importance in knowing what order the gospels and Acts were written?
5-Are the "fruits of the spirit" a product of the saved or sanctified life?

Here are my thoughts for today
1-Don't worry about what you don't have if you do have faith-
2-Prayer is less about what I say and more about what I hear-
3-Ambition is the path to success, persistence is how you get there-
4-Good communication is not how much you talk but how well you listen-
5-What is the point of having experience, knowledge or talent if you don't give it away?

Strange thought-it is better to tighten you belt than to lose your pants-

I've learned-a little lie is no big thing, it is all those you have to tell to keep up with the first one that makes you uncomfortable-

5 things I want to know
1-Are miracles signs of love?
2-Why did God not provide any eye witnesses to Jesus's resurrection?
3-Did any religious leaders ever see the resurrected Jesus and if not, why not?
4-Why is there only one statement in the new testament about the resurrected Jesus appearing to 500 people and nothing in the gospels?
5-After Jesus's resurrection why is there no record of where or how he lived?

Here are my thoughts for today
1-The real secret to happiness is not what you give or receive but what you share-
2-People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges-
3-Success never crowns those who are afraid to try-
4-Pass on your values, not just your assets-
5-Faith is not merely hope, it is more than belief, it is knowing of the heart-

Strange thought-today's trying times are tomorrows "good old days"-

I've learned-opportunities always look bigger going than coming-

5 things I want to know
1-Why were the women going to Jesus's tomb to anoint his body if they knew it had been securely sealed and guarded?
2-Why wouldn't all of Jesus's followers have wanted to go see for themselves that Jesus's tomb was empty?
3-Was Jesus's tomb ever used again?
4-Why wouldn't the empty tomb be a major symbol of Christianity like the cross has become?
5-Why is the resurrection celebrated at Easter?

Here are my thoughts for today
1-It is okay to use friendships as a drawing account, but don't forget to make your deposits-
2-It is nice to be important but even more important to be nice-
3-What you are is more important than what you've got-
4-The full use of today is the best preparation for tomorrow-
5-Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm-

Strange thought-bad public officials are elected by good citizens who don't vote-

I've learned-habit if not resisted soon becomes necessity-

5 things I want to know
1-Was the crucifixion really on Friday--could it have been on Wednesday and the resurrection on Saturday (the Jewish Sabbath)?
2-Jesus said he would spend 3 days and nights in the earth--did he?
3-Why do we celebrate the crucifixion on Friday and the resurrection on Sunday?
4-Was our Sunday the first day of the Jewish week?
5-Why were women the first to see the empty tomb?

Here are my thoughts for today
1-Disappointments are like road bumps, they slow you down a bit but you enjoy smooth roads afterwards-
2-No one can go back and make a brand new start, but you can start from now and make a brand new ending-
3-God didn't promise days without pain, joy without sorrow, sun without rain--but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for tears and light for the way-
4-Love always grows when you generously share-
5-The person who talks without thinking runs more risks than the person who thinks without talking-

Strange thought-instead of crying over spilled milk, go milk another cow-

I've learned-success is determined by how determined you are to succeed-

5 things I want to know
1-Why was Matthew the only gospel to say that Roman guards were placed around Jesus tomb?
2-Why were the Jewish religious leaders afraid the disciples would steal Jesus's body?
3-At Jesus's death, did the disciples think their cause was over?
4-Why didn't the disciples understand that Jesus said He would be resurrected?
5-Why isn't the resurrection story the same in all four gospels?

1-The measure of love is when you love without measure-
2-It is better to lose your pride to the one you love than to lose the one you love because of your pride-
3-We spend too much time looking for the right person to love, or finding fault with those we already have , when instead we should be perfecting the love we give-
4-When you truly love someone you don't look for faults or mistakes-
5-Never abandon an old friend for you will never find one who can take their place-

Strange thought-the only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible-

I've learned-You can't make someone love you, all you can do is to be someone who can be loved, the rest is up to the person to realize your worth-

5 things I want to know
1-Would Jesus's resurrection have been made known to the Roman authorities?
2-Why did Joseph of Arimethia ask to bury the body of Jesus?
3-How could Jesus have talked while hanging on the cross when is such pain?
4-Why doesn't the apostle's creed say Jesus's tomb was empty?
5-Why was Jesus's body put in a tomb and not in a common grave?

1-Live lived to help others is the only one that matters-
2-People are like stained glass windows-they sparkle and shine when the sun is out but when darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within-
3-Many people fail in life not for lack of ability, brains or courage but simply because they have never organized their energies around a goal-
4-The future depends on what we do in the present-
5-It is hard when you fail but it is worse to have never tried to succeed-

Strange thought-if you want boys to do a job, remember that one boy is a boy, two boys are half a boy, and three boys are no boys at all-

I've learned-don't think there are no alligators just because the water is calm-

5 things I want to know-
1-What was Jesus's actual cause of death-lack of oxygen, loss of blood, heart stopped, etc.?
2-Why wasn't Jesus's body given to his family for burial?
3-Why wasn't Jesus's body buried with that of Joseph (his father)?
4-Why didn't Jesus's disciples take his body for burial?
5-Why couldn't Jesus have been resurrected from the cross instead of a tomb?

1-Pride always blinds us to our faults-

3-Why some people repeatedly choose to do evil instead of good is a mystery to me because evil eventually destroys those who practice it-
4-We can't change the past, we can only seek god's forgiveness for whatever we did wrong-
5-Faith is not believing that God can, it is knowing that God will-

Strange thought-once the game is over, both the king and the pawn go back into the same box-

I've learned-if you don't economize you may have to agonize-

5 things I want to know
1-What were Jesus's thoughts about slavery?
2-Did Jesus really sweat drops of blood?
3-How was it possible for Jesus to survive the Roman flogging?
4-Why did Jesus have to be crucified and not just beaten to death?
5-How could Jesus have possibly survived the pain of beating, nailing and hanging?

Here are my thoughts for today
1-Bible prophecy begins and ends with the nation of Israel-
2-America's moral compass has been replaced by moral relativism-
3-Love is not something you say, it is something you do-
4-Unfortunately, even our best efforts may not change another person's attitude-
5-Be at peace with God and yourself-

Strange thought-daylight and wisdom will both peep through a very small hole-

I've learned-computers can figure out all kinds of problems except for the things in the world that just don't add up-

5 things I want to know
1-Was hell ready for Satan before he was removed from heaven?
2-Do all angels have free will just as Satan did before he rebelled?
3-Did Satan ever worship God or did he have a rebellious spirit from his beginning?
4-Was there slavery in Bible times as we know it in our cultures past?
5-Was slavery an evil thing in Jesus's time?

3-Problems come not to obstruct but to instruct-
4-There is a fine line between building a bridge to the unsaved and compromising biblical truth-
5-The constitution of the US was made for a moral and religious people-

Strange thought-a right train of thought will bring you to a better station in life-

I've learned-the peacock of today may be the feather duster of tomorrow-

5 things I want to know
1-Was the serpent in the Garden of Eden really a snake or an evil spirit?
2-Are there different levels of punishment in hell?
3-Will all sinners receive identical punishment in hell?
4-How could Satan as a created being rebel against God?
5-Was hell in existence from the beginning or was it created for sin once it appeared in mankind?

Here are my thoughts for today
1-Don't try changing the world, try changing yourself-
2-Laughter is an instant vacation-
3-Every exit is an entrance to somewhere else-
4-The past is a place of reference, not a place or residency-
5-Having enough has little to do with the amount of cash a person has and everything to do with a sense of boundless provision-

Strange thought-a raison is a grape that has had too many worries-

I've learned-what we say is important for in most cases the mouth speaks what the heart is full of-

5 things I want to know
1-Did God create the place of hell?
2-Did the Last supper and the disciples gathering in an Upper Room occur in the same place?
3-Why would Eve have listened to the serpent instead of God?
4-How long had Adam and Eve lived in the garden and walked with God before disobeying?
5-Why was the potential enjoyment of the forbidden fruit to Adam/Eve greater than obeying God's command and enjoying his fellowship?

Here are my thoughts for today
1-You may not get all you work for but you must work for all you get-
2-To avoid situations in which you might make mistakes may the biggest mistake of all-
3-The eyes see only what the mind is prepared to comprehend-
4-The search for truth is as important as its possession-
5-Regret for wasted time is more wasted time-

Strange thought-you will never stumble on anything good while sitting-

I've learned-the strongest words are usually used in the weakest arguments-

5 things I want to know
1-What did Jesus "empty himself" of?
2-When Jesus was human did he possess all the attributes of God?
3-Is sin first and foremost a defiance of God's laws?
4-Does God have human emotions-laugh, cry, angry, sadness, etc?
5-If God is loving and compassionate, how could he have a plan of pain and suffering for those who love him?

1-You cannot be too careful in your choice of enemies-
2-You've achieved success in your field when you don't know whether what you are doing is work or play-
3-If you always tell the truth you don't have to remember anything-
4-It is not as important to see what lies dimly in the future as it is to do what lies clearly at hand-
5-A good home is made not bought-

Strange thought-a person without principal doesn't draw much interest-

I've learned-once you get started doing nothing it is hard to quit-

5 things I want to know
1-Since Jesus was God and God never dies, how could Jesus have died?
2-Why wasn't Jesus more direct and explicit in telling who he was?
3-Was Jesus's brother James a believer in who Jesus really was?
4-Did any of Jesus's siblings believe he was the messiah?
5-Is it reasonable to believe that evil spirits are responsible for some illnesses and bizarre behavior?

Strange thought-when a spouse is on the warpath, expect a call to active duty-

I've learned-if you mortgage the present for the future, then today doesn't matter-

5 things I want to know
1-Which is of greater significance-the fruit or the gifts of the spirit?
2-Do Christians have all the fruits of the spirit all of the time?
3-Can we be loving to everyone?
4-Why does the gospel of John refer to Jesus as "the word"?
5-What gentiles did Jesus seek out to minister to whole on earth?

Scripture for today-For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king. 1 Samuel 15:23 (NKJV) -----"it is a terrible thing if the Lord rejects you"!!!(my comment)

1-When was Jesus born?
2-Why doesn't the bible say when Jesus was born?
3-Why do we celebrate Christmas on December 25?
4-When did December 25th become the celebration of Jesus birth?
5-What is the most important thing Jesus ever said?
