Monday May 29, 2017 thought for the day

MEMORIAL DAY MAY 29, 2017

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-If your ultimate goal is to fulfill God's purpose for your life, whatever moves you away from God is not worth your time-
2-Compassion is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see-
3-KIndness is in our power even when fondness is not-
4-Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you, not because they are nice but because you are-
5-Never look down on anyone unless you are helping them up-
STRANGE THOUGHT
A pessimist is someone who, when opportunity knocks, complains about the noise-
I'VE LEARNED
A love walk does not come easily or without personal sacrifice.  Each time we choose to love someone it will cost us something-
DID YOU KNOW
By weight, the sun is 70% hydrogen, 28% helium, 1.5% carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen, and .5% all other elements-
5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-How could Jacob be so blessed when he was a deceiver and conniver?
2-Early Biblical marriages had no official ceremony, so when did it start?
3-Why did Jacob favor Joseph over his other sons?
4-Why did Jacob give the cloak to Joseph knowing it would cause family jealousy?
5-Why did God speak to Old Testament people in dreams?  Can or does God do that today?
BIBLE TRIVIA
To what church did Paul say the Old testament was written as a set of examples and warnings for the church?
Answer for today    Corinth     1 Corinthians 10:11
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
Romans 1:16-17   I am not ashamed of the Good News, because it is the power God uses to save everyone who believes—to save the Jews first, and then to save non-Jews. 17 The Good News shows how God makes people right with himself—that it begins and ends with faith. As the Scripture says, “But those who are right with God will live by faith.
PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the Jewish people to see the reality of Jesus as Savior and Lord-
MAY YOU HAVE ENOUGH HAPPINESS TO MAKE YOU SWEET, ENOUGH TRIALS TO MAKE YOU STRONG, ENOUGH SORROW TO KEEP YOU HUMAN AND ENOUGH HOPE TO MAKE YOU HAPPY-
