SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Matthew  26:36-41
36 Then Jesus went with his followers to a place called Gethsemane. He said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with him, and he began to be very sad and troubled. 38 He said to them, "My heart is full of sorrow, to the point of death. Stay here and watch with me."
39 After walking a little farther away from them, Jesus fell to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, do not give me this cup[a] of suffering. But do what you want, not what I want." 40 Then Jesus went back to his followers and found them asleep. He said to Peter, "You men could not stay awake with me for one hour? 41 Stay awake and pray for strength against temptation. The spirit wants to do what is right, but the body is weak."

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, Your Word tells us to do everything without complaining and arguing so that we may become blameless and pure in a crooked and depraved generation. Instead of spreading negativity from our words and actions we are to shine like stars in the universe so that the divine light of Christ may be evident in the way we interact with our peers. Would You raise us above the fray of life as we determine to have an attitude of gratefulness and praise to Him who doeth all things well!  Amen.

I WISH YOU LOVE IN YOUR HEART.....PEACE IN YOUR SOUL.....AND JOY IN YOUR LIFE.....ALWAYS!!!

And the sheep will scatter.' — Zechariah 13:7
32 But after I rise from the dead, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
33 Peter said, "Everyone else may stumble in their faith because of you, but I will not."
34 Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, tonight before the rooster crows you will say three times that you don't know me."
35 But Peter said, "I will never say that I don't know you! I will even die with you!" And all the other followers said the same thing.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, there are many goals, deadlines, and expectations we meet as we tarry here below. But there’s one goal yet unmet that will carry us to the very end of our lives here, and that’s to cross over the finish line that transports us from our temporal dwelling to our place of eternal rest. Rest from all that troubles us, a place where we will no longer taste of death, sickness, evil or sorrow. But until then we rejoice in knowing that Christ our Redeemer lives. He walks with us through every trial, every heartache, and every temptation that our enemy, the devil, hurls at us. We are victors through Christ Jesus our Lord in whose name we pray. Amen.

TODAY WILL NEVER COME AGAIN. BE A BLESSING. BE A FRIEND. ENCOURAGE SOMEONE. TAKE TIME TO CARE. LET YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS HEAL AND NOT WOUND.

Friday August 24, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Obedience is the act of carrying out the commands or directives of another, compliance is behavior influenced by a peer or supervisor, conformity is behavior matching that of the majority-
2-Christian obedience is yielding our conduct to God's values rather than our own-
3-Actions confirm the words we speak-
4-Rather than dismiss our sin, Jesus assumed our sin and incredibly sentenced himself-
5-To walk in obedience to God is to walk in love-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

2-Where did the money come from that Jesus and his disciples used?
3-What did Jesus mean saying "God will forgive every sin except for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit"
4-If the Trinity is one and equal, why is speaking against the Holy Spirit worse than speaking against the Father or Son?
5-Jesus said that all would be judged for their thoughtless and careless words.  What are those words?

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY     Matthew 26:26-30

26 While they were eating, Jesus took some bread and thanked God for it and broke it. Then he gave it to his followers and said, "Take this bread and eat it; this is my body."
27 Then Jesus took a cup and thanked God for it and gave it to the followers. He said, "Every one of you drink this. 28This is my blood which is the new[a] agreement that God makes with his people. This blood is poured out for many to forgive their sins. 29 I tell you this: I will not drink of this fruit of the vine[b] again until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom."
30 After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manGloria a Dios for the blessed gift of our five senses. Our surroundings become very much alive to us through our sense of touching, smelling, tasting, hearing and seeing; all a part of Your plan to help us navigate our way through life as we journey here below.  And yet it is through these senses that we also experience the irritations of life, the undesirable circumstances that can prompt an attitude of grumbling instead of gratitude, unless we have developed a sixth sense, the sense of gratitude which does away with grumbling. It doesn’t come as naturally as the five senses but Your Word develops our sense of gratitude as we apply its truths and prayerfully adapt it to our way of looking at things. Help us to give thanks in everything, for this is Your will, through Christ Jesus our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.
* Gloria a Dios is translated “Glory to God”

Thursday August 23, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-The Christian journey is not a solo adventure-
2-Walking with Jesus does not mean we are Incapable of sinning, but that we do not have to-
3-Fellowship with Jesus does not give us a freedom to sin but the power not to-
4-God is faithful to forgive us if we want to be-
5-Jesus can make a difference in how you live but in order for that to happen you must understand who he is, what he has done and what he longs to do in you-

2-Did it take a lot of courage for the prostitute to come uninvited to Jesus publicly at Simon's house?
3-Was the prostitute that came to Jesus at Simon's house wanting a lifestyle change?
4-Was Jesus and his disciples always on the go from place to place?
5-Who were the financial benefactors of Jesus and his disciples?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What tribe was ambushed at Gibeah by the other tribes of Israel?
Yesterday's answer-Paul     Acts 21:30-35

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   Matthew 26:20-25
20 In the evening Jesus was sitting at the table with his twelve followers. 21 As they were eating, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, one of you will turn against me."
22 This made the followers very sad. Each one began to say to Jesus, "Surely, Lord, I am not the one who will turn against you, am I?"
23 Jesus answered, "The man who has dipped his hand with me into the bowl is the one who will turn against me. 24The Son of Man will die, just as the Scriptures say. But how terrible it will be for the person who hands the Son of Man over to be killed. It would be better for him if he had never been born."
25 Then Judas, who would give Jesus to his enemies, said to Jesus, "Teacher, surely I am not the one, am I?"
Jesus answered, "Yes, it is you."

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, like Paul who desired that his kinsmen not be destroyed by their sin of unbelief, we too bear a burden for our fellowman that they come to repentance and find salvation through Christ Jesus our Lord. Jude warns us that there will be mockers in the last time who walk according to their own ungodly lusts. We see it with our eyes and it is evident in the news every day. But we are encouraged in our witness knowing that salvation is available to any mocker or unbeliever who turns to you in repentance. Jesus is the only name under heaven by which we can be saved so we proclaim Him who lived among the people, was sacrificed for our sins, was buried and rose on the third day. How we pray that the life of Christ might resonate through our lives so that others might see Jesus in us. It is in Jesus’ name that we pray for a plentiful harvest in declaring the gospel through our witness and our lives. Amen.

2-Do we know if his woman's life was forever changed after her encounter with Jesus?

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Matthew 26:17-19
17 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the followers came to Jesus. They said, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover meal?"
18 Jesus answered, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says: "The chosen time is near. I will have the Passover with my followers at your house." ' " 19The followers did what Jesus told them to do, and they prepared the Passover meal.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, help us to keep the eternal perspective ever before us when weighing choices in this temporal life here below. It seems the gap is widening between those who accept the truths of the Bible taught since the beginning of time and those who are increasingly accepting of a secular society that trumps human wisdom over divine wisdom. But You call us to account for our allegiance and our actions. If taking a stand for You on this side of eternity causes us to perish, we are assured that on the other side we will inherit eternal life. Keep us faithful and trusting no matter what comes our way. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LIVE SIMPLY! LOVE GENEROUSLY! CARE DEEPLY! SPEAK KINDLY! LEAVE THE REST WITH GOD!!

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Praying manFather, there are so many paths that one might take thinking they’re headed the right way only to find the long roads lead to a dead end. As believers, we know that there is only one way to the Father in heaven and that is through Christ Jesus His Son who declares, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”.  We also cannot earn our salvation because You give it freely though it came at great cost.  We choose to receive Your gift of salvation through our faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. We are immensely grateful for Your love and generosity toward us. Amen.

GREATLY BLESSED, HIGHLY FAVORED, IMPERFECT BUT FORGIVEN CHILD OF GOD-

10 Knowing what had happened, Jesus said, "Why are you troubling this woman? She did an excellent thing for me. 11You will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.12 This woman poured perfume on my body to prepare me for burial. 13 I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached in all the world, what this woman has done will be told, and people will remember her."

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, though there are many ups and downs, highs and lows one thing we hope others observe about our life is that we are continually serving our Lord and Savior no matter what. May we never sell out to appease others or due to fear regarding the consequences of our public stand for You. Praying manFather, we’re reminded by the words of Paul that we are to remain firm when the deluge of deceitful tactics from the enemy comes against us – through the media, books, false prophets and even well-meaning but confused individuals. Your Word is the stabilizing and authoritative manual for all that we need for life and godliness. You promise to bring maturity into our Christian walk as we firmly plant ourselves into the solid teaching of Your Holy Word. We apply Your teaching so that we will attain to the fullness of Your Son, Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone. Help us to be wise, studied, and firmly planted in Christ so that we will not be like children tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

LIVE SIMPLY! LOVE GENEROUSLY! CARE DEEPLY! SPEAK KINDLY! LEAVE THE REST WITH GOD!!

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Matthew 25:28-30
28 "So the master told his other servants, 'Take the bag of gold from that servant and give it to the servant who has ten bags of gold. 29 Those who have much will get more, and they will have much more than they need. But those who do not have much will have everything taken away from them.' 30 Then the master said, 'Throw that useless servant outside, into the darkness where people will cry and grind their teeth with pain.'

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, You provide the answers to life’s questions about everything that concerns us. In answer to life’s greatest question, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” You sent Your Son to be our Savior who would die for our sins so that we might be forgiven and receive an abundant life here on earth and an eternal life in heaven. We are learning to trust in You with all our hearts and not rely on our own understanding. We want to acknowledge You in all areas of our life so that we will seek You above all and the counsel in Your Holy Word for the answers to life’s questions. Jesus truly is the answer for the world today, for He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING-

3- What helps us experience God's presence?
4-Why did God tell Samuel what he was going to do to Eli's family?  Why didn't he tell Eli directly?

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Matthew 25:24-27
24 "Then the servant who had been given one bag of gold came to the master and said, 'Master, I knew that you were a hard man. You harvest things you did not plant. You gather crops where you did not sow any seed. 25 So I was afraid and went and hid your money in the ground. Here is your bag of gold.'26 The master answered, 'You are a wicked and lazy servant! You say you knew that I harvest things I did not plant and that I gather crops where I did not sow any seed. 27 So you should have put my gold in the bank. Then, when I came home, I would have received my gold back with interest.'

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, it is in You that we live and move and have our being. As You breathed life into us You also determined the parents who would bring us into this world, where we would live, the language we would speak, and the culture that would help shape our way of life as we know it. In Your great mercy You have chosen to show Your power through us who believe so that Your name may be declared in all the earth. By Your grace we will be faithful in carrying out this tremendous mission You have entrusted to those who believe. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
