Thursday October 10, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Trusting God is an act of obedience-
2-Christianity, if false, is not important.  If however, Christianity is true it is of infinite
and eternal importance. What it cannot be is moderately important-
3-Love is just not a feeling. Love is also a choice as is choosing to be honest,
choosing to be faithful choosing to be respectful-
4-Only those who can see the invisible can do the impossible-
5-The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time,
but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting time-

STRANGE THOUGHT-It is hard to make a comeback when you have not been anywhere-

I'VE LEARNED-Humility is knowing you desperately need forgiveness as the greatest of all your needs-

DID YOU KNOW-Walking catfish of Florida can stay out of water for eighty days-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Is heaven a physical or spiritual place?
2-Where was Jesus talking about when he told the hanging thief he would be with him in "paradise"?
3-Was the Garden of Eden destroyed after Adam and Eve had to leave it?
4-Whatever happened to the "tree of life"?
5-Could it be that the Garden of Eden will be a great park at the center of the new Jerusalem?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who told Jesus he had seen a man driving out demons in Jesus' name?
Today's answer-John   Mark 9:38

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Acts 21:17-25
17 In Jerusalem the believers were glad to see us. 18 The next day Paul went with us to visit James, and all the elders were there. 19 Paul greeted them and told them everything God had done among the other nations through him. 20 When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul, “Brother, you can see that many thousands of our people have become believers. And they think it is very important to obey the law of Moses. 21 They have heard about your teaching, that you tell our people who live among the nations to leave the law of Moses. They have heard that you tell them not to circumcise their children and not to obey customs. 22 What should we do? They will learn that you have come. 23 So we will tell you what to do: Four of our men have made a promise to God. 24 Take these men with you and share in their cleansing ceremony.[a] Pay their expenses so they can shave their heads.[b] Then it will prove to everyone that what they have heard about you is not true and that you follow the law of Moses in your own life. 25 We have already sent a letter to the non-Jewish believers. The letter said: ‘Do not eat food that has been offered to idols, or blood, or animals that have been strangled. Do not take part in sexual sin.’”

Footnotes:

  1. 21:24 cleansing ceremony The special things Jews did to end the Nazirite promise.
  2. 21:24 shave their heads Jews did this to show that their promise was finished.
PRAYER FOR TODAY

Praying man Father, we thank You for Jesus who intercedes for us in our hardships, persecution, dangers, poverty and troubles of all kinds. Amazingly, You develop in us a spirit that not only overcomes our difficulties, but enables us to overwhelmingly conquer the very thing that Satan intends to use in defeating us. The Apostle Paul found that he delighted in weaknesses and hardships because it was in his weakness that he found Your strength to be superior to his own. Your grace was sufficient for him to deal with his hardship. Yours is an overcoming, conquering strength unavailable to us through genetics, medicine, therapy, or mortal man. It comes only through personal unswerving faith in You and perseverance in prayer that we can overwhelmingly conquer our foe! Help us never to give up but hang in there as we endure and overcome the enemy’s arsenal. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE LOVE TO SHARE, HEALTH TO SPARE AND FRIENDS THAT CARE!
