2-Joy is the most infallible sign of the presence of God-

3-Anger lives in sorrows house-

4-Confidence is contagious, so is lack of confidence-

5-Prayer is more than sanctified worry-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-When the smog lifts in lost Angeles U C L A-

 

I'VE LEARNED-hate can come from ignorance but often it is a heart filled with evil-

 

DID YOU KNOW-In Cleveland, Ohio, it is illegal so catch mice without a hunting license-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-Can we comprehend the anguish Jesus endured carrying out his father's will for him?

2-Why would heavens finest son endure earth's toughest pain?

3-If the fruit of sins is thorns, isn't the thorny crown on Jesus' head a picture of the fruit of our sin that pierced his heart?

4-What is the fruit of sin-shame, fear, disgrace, discouragement, anxiety, etc?

5-Where was God the father when Jesus was trying to carry his cross to his crucifixion?

1-When God squeezes your heart, the juice comes out of your eyes-

2-God can do wonders with a broken heart if we give him all the pieces-

3-When Jesus was on the cross, you were on his mind-

4-Nothing touches me that hasn't passed through the hands of my heavenly father-

5-I choose to belive that God knows what he is doing-

1-More than once scripture says "the heavens were opened".   What did this mean?

2-Did God the father speak audibly to Jesus each and every day he was on earth?

3-After Jesus baptism, why did God lead him into the desert to be tempted by Satan?

4-Should we feel guilty about our blessings when others have lost everything?

5-Should the Lord's prayer be recited or used as a pattern for the variety of elements that should be included when we pray?

I'VE LEARNED-I feared the truth until I saw the ugliness in lies-

1-If Jesus was truly God, why did he have to get the normal Jewish boy training?

2-Did Jesus have a bar mitzvah?

3-Would Jesus have related to Joseph as his father?

4-Jesus was baptized as an adult.  Should we do the same?

I'VE LEARNED-I feared pain until I learned it is necessary for growth-

1-If you were arrested today for being a christian would there be enough evidence to convict you?

I'VE LEARNED-I feared rejection until I learned to have faith in myself-

1-Was all of Jesus' family at his crucifixion?

2-Did Joseph have the "Fatherly talk" with Jesus?

3-When all of Joseph and Mary's children were adults, did they ever have family gatherings?

5-How many of Jesus' siblings believed he was the messiah and were his followers?

I'VE LEARNED-Unforgiveness is choosing to stay trapped in a jail cell of bitterness, serving time for someone else's crime-

 

DID YOU KNOW-Rubber bands last long when refrigerated-

1-Was Peter the only disciple who truly knew Jesus was the Messiah?

2-Did Jesus' mother Mary ever talk to any of the disciples about Jesus miraculous birth and angelic visitation?

3-What does Scripture mean saying-"take up your cross daily"?

4-The bible has only one story of Jesus childhood of his family going to Jerusalem for the passover and being left behind by accident when his family left to return home.  Why was no other story ever mentioned about Jesus' childhood?

1-Where does the term "accept Jesus into your heart" come from?

5-Why did Jesus ask the woman who touched the edge of his cloak to identify herself?  Did he not know?

1-I hear what you a saying but is that what you mean-

2-Being right or wrong is not the issue in loving relationships-

3-Love is a four letter word for forgiveness-

4-When you are doing God's business, God takes care of your business-

5-Forgiveness does not necessarily make things right but it does make you free-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Hero is what a guy in a row boat does-

 

I'VE LEARNED-The greatness of a man is not how much wealth he acquires but in his integrity and ability to affect positively those around him-

 

DID YOU KNOW-The diameter of the wire in a standard paper clip is 1 millimeter, or about 0.04 inches-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-Nothing in scripture talks about Jesus relationship with Mary's other children.  Why?

2-Did Mary tell her children that their brother Jesus was the Messiah?  If not, who did tell them?

3-Would Jesus have had a traceable DNA?

4-When Jesus was a child, would other children have teased him about being the Messiah.  What about when he was a teenager?

5-When did Jesus receive his divine miracle power?  Did he have it as a child or teenager or adult?

**The first picture above is not a picture of our family  but it is meaningful to us.  We had a grandson somewhat older than the child's age when his great grandfather was in the nursing home and unable to see and we experienced this picture several times.  He was not fearful of his g'pa and would crawl up in his arms and look him straight in the face.  In fact I think he would kiss him on his cheek.  This must have been a special delight to my wife's father!!  It was very touching for us to watch!!

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Thank you Jesus, for paying the price for my sin and thereby sharing with me the riches of eternity with you and the Father-

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

1-Sin begets it's own consequences-

2-It is impossible to live without restraint and avoid the consequences-

3-Christians are either reservoirs or channels-

4-Real repentance will work a change of heart and conduct-

5-Never speak more clearly than you think-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Geometry is what the acorn said when it grew up-

 

I'VE LEARNED-The less time I have to work with, the more things I get done-

 

DID YOU KNOW-Each of us generates five pounds of garbage a day, most of which is paper-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-What difference was there in the Israelites crossing the Red Sea and crossing the Jordan River?

2-How bold should we be in our prayers?

3-What was the "Book of Jashar" and why wasn't it included in the Bible as scripture?

4-Why do Christians say that Jesus lives in their heart when it is the Holy Spirit that does so?

5-Is the death of a christian a "home going" or a "homecoming?

¹⁵ For our high priest is able to understand our weaknesses. He was tempted in every way that we are, but he did not sin. ¹⁶ Let us, then, feel very sure that we can come before God’s throne where there is grace. There we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it.

 

PRAYER FOR THE DAY-

 

 

Thank you God of mercy and God of grace, for your willingness to walk on this planet all the way to the cross.  Thank you that as a result, you

can sympathize with our weaknesses, help us stand strong against temptation, and offer comfort when the temptation is to despair.  Amen

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

1-Self denial is often the key to self fulfillment-

2-"As a man thinketh in his heart so is he"-

3-The seed of destruction is contained in every sin-

4-When you have no eternal truths you have no moral absolutes-

5-How foolish to exchange freedom for security-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Geezer is formally known as stud muffin-

 

I'VE LEARNED-Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain.  But all happiness and growth occurs while you are climbing it-

 

DID YOU KNOW-People in China sometimes use firecrackers around their homes as fire alarms-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-Every major civilization before us has disintegrated and collapsed from internal forces rather than military conquest-

2-For the Christian, the term "eternal life" refers to an everlasting existence (time with no end) with God in heaven.  Should it not also refer to the unsaved spending that same time with satan in hell?

3-Is there a difference in the wrath of God of the old testament and the love of God of the new testament?

4-If every Christian began to live the promised land life, how would the world be different?

5-If Christians are co-heirs with Jesus, why do we so often struggle through life?

 

BIBLE TRIVIA-"This is the family history of Jesus Christ. He came from the family of David, and David came from the family of Abraham."  This is the first verse of chapter 1 of what book of the Bible?

¹⁸ The Lord says,

¹⁹ If you become willing and obey me,
    You will eat good crops from the land.
²⁰ But if you refuse to obey and if you turn against me,
    You will be destroyed by your enemies’ swords.”
The Lord himself said these things.

 

 

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Thank you God for your grace that washes away my sin.  Now enable me to be to everyone I encounter a witness to your forgiveness!!

 

I PRAY THAT GOD GIVES YOU STRENGTH IN YOUR STRUGGLE, PEACE IN YOUR PAIN, AND VICTORY IN YOUR VALLEY-

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

1-Human nature left to it's own devices has always been a wretched failure at explaining the meaning and destiny of life-

2-It is a dangerous thing when we too easily accept new ideas as truth-

3-When Christianity leaves, so does morality-

4-Just because something is legal doesn't mean it is moral-

5-Whatever makes men good Christians also makes them good citizens-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Flattery is phony express-

 

I'VE LEARNED-When your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in their little fist, you are hooked for life-

 

DID YOU KNOW-Mixing Sani-Flush and Comet has been known to cause explosions-

 

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

1-In ll Timothy 4:14 who was Alexander?  Why was he with Paul and what did he do that was harmful?

2-What makes a church great?

3-"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace but a sword."  What are we to do with that statement?

4-In the Garden of Eden, what did the "tree of life" represent?

5-In scripture, what is "light"?

 

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY     Hebrews 5:8-10

⁸ Even though Jesus was the Son of God, he learned obedience by what he suffered. ⁹ And because his obedience was perfect, he was able to give eternal salvation to all who obey him. ¹⁰ In this way God made Jesus a high priest, a priest like Melchizedek.

 

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Lord, I know you can be trusted even in the hardships of life.  Not my will, but your will be done!!

1-What we obtain too cheaply we esteem too lightly, it is dearness that gives everything its value-

2-America is great because it is good and if it ever ceases to be good it well cease to be great-

3-The harder you work the luckier you get-

4-You cannot understand the great love of God until you understand the awfulness of sin-

5-Success is no substitute for excellence-

 

STRANGE THOUGHT-Fission is what Huck Finn did when he played hookey-

 

I'VE LEARNED-A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks-

 

DID YOU KNOW-Kleenex tissues were originally used as filters in gas masks?

1-How does your faith in God affect your attitude toward this world?

2-Do feelings have anything to do with faith?

3-Why do some Christians choose not to serve others?

4-Prior to Jesus telling his disciples how to pray, had they been praying people?

5-Why did Jesus wait to teach his disciples how to pray until they asked him to do so?
