Scripture for today-Proverbs 16:22-27
22 Understanding is like a fountain which gives life to those who use it, but foolishness brings punishment to fools.
23 Wise people's minds tell them what to say, and that helps them be better teachers.
24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, making people happy and healthy.
25 Some people think they are doing right, but in the end it leads to death.
26 The workers hunger helps them because their desire to eat makes them work.
27 Useless people make evil plans and their words are like a burning fire-

17 Good people stay away from evil. By watching what they do, they protect their lives.
18 Pride will destroy a person, a proud attitude leads to ruin.
19 It is better to be humble and be with those who suffer than to share stolen property with the proud.

8 It is better to be poor and right than to be wealthy and dishonest.
9 People may make plans in their minds, but the Lord decides what they will do.
10 The words of a king are like a message from God, so his decisions should be fair.
11-The Lord wants honest balances and scales, all the weights are his work.
12 Kings hate those who do wrong because governments only continue if they are fair.
13 Kings like honest people, they value someone who speaks the truth.
14 An angry king can put someone to death, so a wise person will try to make him happy.

5-Why did Jesus refer to God as "father"-was this a Hebrew culture thing?
Scripture for today Proverbs 15:25-33

27 Greedy people bring trouble to their families, but the person who can't be paid to do wrong will live.
28 Good people think before they answer, but the wicked simply pour out evil.
29 The Lord does not listen to the wicked, but he hears the prayers of those who do right.
30 Good news makes you feel better, your happiness will show in your eyes.
31 If you listen to correction to improve your life, you will live among the wise.

33 Respect for the Lord will teach you wisdom. If you want to be honored you must be humble.

MR. AND MRS. HAPPY SNOWMEN
Here are my thoughts for today
1-It is better to have a heart without words than words without heart-
2-Prayer is first of all listening to God to see what He has to say-
3-"Search me oh God and know my heart and my anxious thoughts, see if there be any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting"-
4-A good husband makes a good wife, and a good wife makes a good husband-
5-The Bible doesn't call us to be more motivated or more productive workers--the relevant image in scripture is faithfulness and fruitfulness-
Strange thought-Old age is always 15 years older than I am-
I've learned-Circumstances force us to learn the wisdom of quieting our soul and waiting on God (patience)-
5 things I want to know
1-The Bible says that hell is a place of worms eating peoples flesh--is this to be understood literally?
2-What does "gnashing of teeth" mean?
3-What will be the worst thing for the inhabitants in hell to bear?
4-Do people chose hell because they want to go there or because they don't believe there is such a place?
5-Is hell a sentence for behavior choices or simply the end of the path of life we choose to live?
Scripture for today-Proverbs 15:16-24
16-It is better to be poor and respect the Lord than to be wealthy and have much trouble.
17-It is better to eat vegetables with those who love you than to eat meat with those who hate you.
18-People with quick tempers cause trouble but those who control their tempers stop a quarrel.
19-A lazy person's life is like a patch of thorns but an honest person's life is like a smooth highway.
20-A wise son makes his father happy but a foolish son disrespects his mother.
21-A person without wisdom enjoys being foolish but someone with understanding does what is right.
22-Plans fail without good advice but they succeed with the advice of many others.
23-People enjoy giving good advice. Saying the right word at the right time is so pleasing.
24-Wise people's lives get better and better. They avoid whatever would cause their death.

SNOWMAN AND FRIENDS
Here are my thoughts for today
1-If you are going to care about the fall of the sparrow, you can't pick and choose who's going to be the sparrow-
2-"Worship the Lord with gladness, come before him with joyful songs"
3-"Enter His gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise..."
4-"The Lord is good and His love endures forever, His faithfulness continues through all generations"
5-Circumstances force us to learn the wisdom of quieting our soul and waiting on God (patience)-
Strange thought-It is hard to make a comeback when you haven't been anywhere-
I've learned-People grow old by deserting their ideals-
5 things I want to know
1-The Bible says the Christian has a resurrected body in heaven so does the sinner have an after death body in hell?
2-Is hell a physical place?
3-Where is the soul between death and the final judgement or does the final judgement occur at death?
4-The Bible says there are flames in hell-are these literal or figurative?
5-How can hell be a place of utter darkness and also a place of burning and flames?
Scripture for today-The Lord hates what evil people do, but He loves those who do what is right. The person who quits doing what is right will be punished, and the one who hates to be corrected will die. The Lord knows what is happening in the world of the dead, so He surely knows the thoughts of the living. Those who make fun of wisdom don't like to be corrected. And they will not ask the wise for advice. Happiness makes a person smile, but the sadness can break a person's spirit. People with understanding want more knowledge, but fools just want more foolishness. Every day is hard for those who suffer, but a happy heart is like a continual feast. Proverbs 15:9-15

THE SNOW IS TOO MUCH FOR THIS LITTLE SNOW BLOWER
Here are my thoughts for today-
1-It is so easy to become what we do-
2-Not only do we know God through Jesus Christ, we know ourselves through him also-
3-Every Christian will sometime hike through a spiritual desert-
4-While God is always with us, sometimes he withdraws from us the sense of his presence-
5-The true enemy in our culture is relativism, not pluralism for it is relativism that calls the truth of the gospel into question-
Strange thought-give blood, 10 million mosquitos can't be wrong-
I've learned-It doesn't take much to say "I quit!"--it takes a lot more to say "I'll try"
5 things I want to know
1-Do we automatically chose hell by rejecting Jesus?
2-Can you believe in God and not believe in Jesus as his son?
3-Why do today's Christians tend to care about God's soft virtues and forget his hard virtues?
4-Is hell a punishment for having broken God's standards or a natural consequence of having your own way?
5-Is hell a punishment or a punishing?
Scripture for today-A gentle answer will calm a person's anger, but an unkind answer will cause more anger. Wise people use knowledge when they speak, but fools pour out foolishness. The Lord's eyes see everything, he watches both evil and good people. As a tree give fruit, healing words give life, but dishonest words crush the spirit. Fools reject parent's correction, but anyone who accepts correction is wise;. Much wealth is in the houses of good people, but evil people get nothing but trouble. Wise people use their words to spread knowledge, but there is no knowledge in the thoughts of fools. The Lord hates the sacrifice that the wicked offer, but he likes the prayer of honest people. WHAT DO YOU DO WITH ALL THIS SNOW?
Here are my thoughts for today-
1-Fatigue makes maintaining intimacy with God almost impossible-
2-"Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him..."
3-I have more trouble with me than anyone I know-
4-God gives his people permission not to fix everything-
5-Christian success must be built of character, not personality or skill-
Strange thought-The griller's motto is "Where there is smoke there is dinner"
I've learned-Ability will get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there-
5 things I want to know
1-Can a Christian not be a "good" person?
2-Why are false religions so popular with so many?
3-Does God hate hell?
4-Will hell ever be destroyed?
5-Is hell a torture chamber or utter darkness?
Scripture for today-Patient people have great understanding, but people with quick tempers show their foolishness. Peace of mind means a healthy body, but jealousy will rot your bones. Whoever mistreats the poor insults their maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God. The wicked are ruined by their own evil, but those who do right are protected even in death. Wisdom lives in those with understanding, and even fools recognize it. Doing what is right makes a nation great, but sin will bring disgrace to any people. A king is pleased with a wise servant, but he will become angry with one who causes him shame. Proverbs 14:29-35

THIS IS SOME SERIOUS SNOW
Here are my thoughts for today
1-Our everyday routine exposes our integrity or lack of it-
2-He is rich or poor according to what he is, not what he has-
3-God's will is not for his child to be miserable-
4-Rest is supposed to be a part of the rhythm of life, not the definition of life-
5-Joy is almost never in our power but happiness is-
Strange thought-He who deliberates fully before taking a step will spend a lifetime on one leg-
I've learned-Integrity always trumps the bottom line-
5 things I want to know
1-What and where is our heart, soul and mind?
2-If sin means "missing the mark", can a Christian possibly live a sinless life?
3-What is morality?
4-Why do we say "Jesus Christ" as if Christ is Jesus's last name instead of saying "Jesus the Christ"?
5-Can a non Christian be a "good person"?
Scripture for today-It is a sin to hate your neighbor, but being kind to the needy brings happiness. Those who make evil plans will be ruined, but those who plan to do good will be loved and trusted. Those who work hard make a profit, but those who only talk will be poor. Wise people are rewarded with wealth, but fools only get more foolishness. A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is a traitor. Those who respect the Lord will have security, and their children will be protected. Respect for the Lord give life. It is like a fountain that can save people from death. A king is honored when he has many people to rule, but a prince is ruined if he has none. Proverbs 14:21-28

Here are my thoughts for today

2-"Fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness"
3-Sin is not what you want to do but can't, it is what you shouldn't do because it will hurt you --and hurt you bad-
4-Families are God's primary missionary society-
5-Character is so important because it cannot be fully evaluated but will fail at the time when we can least afford it-
Strange thought-life is uncertain so don't buy green bananas
I've learned-the affections of others are often fickle-
5 things I want to know
1-Are we qualified to call anyone a "sinner"?
2-Can we be boastful or arrogant when we say Jesus is the one and only way to God?
3-Is all truth by definition exclusive?
4-Can a Christian act arrogant about their salvation?
5-Outside of the Bible do we know Jesus is who he said he was?
Scripture for today-Evil people will be paid back for their evil ways, and good people will be rewarded for their good ones. Fools will believe anything, but the wise think about what they do. Wise people are careful and stay out of trouble, but fools are careless and quick to act. Someone with a quick temper does foolish things, but someone with understanding remains calm. Fools are rewarded with nothing but more foolishness, buy the wise are rewarded with knowledge. Evil people will bow down to those who are good, the wicked will bow down at the door of those who do right. The poor are rejected, even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends. HERE'S ALOT OF SNOW
Here are my thoughts for today
1-God wants to forgive more than He wants to condemn-
2-Holiness is being molded into Christ likeness-
3-Isn't it great to know that God's grace is deeper than the depths of our sins-
4-I am warned by God's justice and warmed by His mercy-
5-We may dislike the process but God builds character through disappointments and failures-
Strange thought-life is uncertain so eat dessert first!
I've learned-sometimes God prepares us for success through the hard knocks of life-
5 things I want to know
1-Are all translations of the bible from Hebrew and Greek 100% accurate and without error?
2-By requiring animal sacrifices in the old testament was God being cruel to animals?
3-Was any of the Bible dictated?
4-Does the Bible tell us all there is to know about God?
5-Does God make it difficult to believe in Him?
Scripture for today-Stay away from fools, because they can't teach you anything. A wise person will understand what to do, but a foolish person is dishonest. Fools don't care if they sin, but honest people work at being right. No on else can know your sadness, and strangers cannot share your joy. The wicked person's house will be destroyed, but a good person's tent will still be standing. Some people think they are doing right, but in the end it leads to death. Someone who is laughing may be sad inside, and joy may end in sadness. Proverbs 14:7-13

HERE IS ALOT OF SNOW
Here are my thoughts for today
1-The more often you feel without acting, the less you will be able ever to act and in the long run the less you will be able to feel-
2-The only way I can experience God's forgiveness is to acknowledge my sin-
3-I refuse to remember what God has forgotten-
4-God's mercy covers our past in a blanket of love and then he advises us not to kick the covers off-
5-Backsliding doe not have to be a one way street, it can be a spiritual cull-de-sac-
Strange thought-I live in my own little world, but it is okay because everybody knows me here-
I've learned-most people forget God all day and ask Him to remember them at night-
5 things I want to know
1-Are faith and reason contradictory?
2-Could God have created the universe with the "big bang"?
3-Does the Bible ever contain inconsistencies?
4-How do we know that children will go to heaven if they die?
5-Is God willing to save everyone who comes to him?
Scripture for today-A wise woman strengthens her family, but a foolish woman destroys hers by what she does. People who live good lives respect the Lord, but those who live evil lives don't. Fools will be punished for their proud words, but the words of the wise will protect them. When there Are no oxen, no food is in the barn. But with a strong ox, much grain can be grown. A truthful witness does not lie, but a false witness tells nothing but lies. Those who make fun of wisdom look for it and do not find it, but knowledge comes easily to those with understanding. NOW, THIS LOOKS LIKE ALOT OF SNOW!
Here are my thoughts for today
1-Christ became a curse to redeem us-
2-Because God is faithful, we can trust every promise he has made-
3-Since Jesus has set you free from sin, live free-
4-When you make yourself available to God you never know what he might ask you to do-
5-Your effectiveness in fulfilling God's call depends on surrendering all your dearest loves to the love of Jesus-
Strange thought-Not getting what you want is sometimes a real blessing-
I've learned-Conscience is God's built in warning system-be very happy when it hurts you-be very worried when it doesn't-
5 things I want to know
1-Are there any "good people"?
2-Does suffering and evil contain the potential for good?
3-Is it really possible to thank God for the pain we endure?
4-Are people ever motivated to seek God in the midst of their pleasure?
5-Are miracles a violation of natural law?
Scripture for today-Spend time with the wise and you will become wise, but the friends of fools will suffer. Trouble always comes to sinners, but good people enjoy success. Good people leave their wealth to their grandchildren, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for good people. A poor person's field might produce plenty of food, but others often steal it away. If you do not punish your children, you don't love them, but if you love your children, you will correct them. Good people have enough to eat, but the wicked will go hungry. Proverbs 13:20-25

SORRY THERE IS NO PICTURE TODAY-I STILL DON'T HAVE THAT FEATURE RELOADED YET-
HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Time is an allie or an enemy in building your faith-
2-Time is a gift, use it wisely-
3-Hearing God's word is good, doing what it says is better-
4-It isn't more hearing of God's word that we need, but more doing what it says-
5-Rules have little to do with the act of salvation and are only a loving response to a savior who gave all for me-
Strange thought-Every closed eye is not sleeping and every open eye is not seeing-
I've learned-Most people want to serve God but only in an advisory capacity-
5 things I want to know
1-What does it mean "God is all powerful"?
2-Is God always good?
3-What would it be like to live in a world without suffering?
4-Does any amount of suffering disprove the existence of God?
5-Is there ever any meaning to suffering?
Scripture for today-The teaching of a wise person gives life. It is like a fountain that can save people from death. People with good understanding will be well liked, but the lives of those who are not trustworthy are hard. Every wise person acts with good sense, but fools show how foolish they are. A wicked messenger brings nothing but trouble, but a trustworthy one makes everything right. A person who refuses correction will end up poor and disgraced, but the one who accepts correction will be honored. It is so good when wishes come true, but fools hate to stop doing evil/ Proverbs 13:14-19

DOESN'T THIS LOOK COLD? REMEMBER DR ZHIVAGO MOVIE?
Here are my thoughts for today
1-Character cannot be concealed-
2-We may deceive ourselves, but not God-
3-If you cannot admit the truth to yourself you will not be able to admit it to God-
4-Fear is a healthy thing if properly placed-
5-Patience serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold-
Strange thought-Why does the "alphabet song" and "twinkle, twinkle little star" have the same tune?
I've learned-the secret to achievement is to not let what you are doing get to you before you get to it-
5 things I want to know
1-When did history begin?
2-Is it possible the world and the universe could be millions of years old?
3-Is it possible that God's days of creation took millions of years?
4-Can faith stand up to reason?
5-Is it Christian's fate to have to suffer persecution?
Scripture for today-Some people pretend to be rich but really have nothing. Others pretend to be poor but really are wealthy. The rich may have to pay a ransom for their lives, but the poor will face no such danger. Good people can look forward to a bright future, but the future of the wicked is like a flame going out. Pride only leads to arguments, but those who take advice are wise. Money that comes easily disappears quickly, but money that is gathered little by little will grow. It is sad not to get what you hoped for. But wishes that come true are like eating fruit from the tree of life. Those who reject what they are taught will pay for it, but those who obey what they are told will be rewarded. Proverbs 13:7-13

A PRETTY COLD WINTER SCENE
Here are my thoughts for today
1-We please God far more with a proper heart attitude than with perfect performance-
2-It is one thing to feel sorry for wrongdoing and it is quite another to turn away from it-
3-While God's forgiveness is always available to the repentant, we may still have to live with the results of poor decisions-
4-Choose to do right and you will live without regret-
5-The strength of your faith will be evident in the quality of your life-
Strange thought-if electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?
I've learned-the mighty oak tree was one a little nut that stood its ground
5 things I want to know
1-Is faith a choice of the will or a gift from God?
2-Do all people have the same measure of faith to start with?
3-Is faith based on knowledge or knowledge based on faith?
4-What does it mean "you will know the truth and the truth will set you free"?
5-When did time not exist?
Scripture for today-Wise children take their parent's advice, but whoever makes fun of wisdom won't listen to correction. People will be rewarded for what they say, but those who can't be trusted want only violence. Those who are careful about what they say protect their lives, but whoever speaks without thinking will be ruined. The lazy will not get what they want, but those who work hard will. Good people hate what is false, but the wicked do shameful and disgraceful things. Doing what is right protects the honest person, but doing evil ruins the sinner. Proverbs 13:1-6

A cold winter day
Here are my thoughts for today
1-God corrects and disciplines because he loves us-
2-God's love toward us does not change us without our involvement-
3-God has many children but no grandchildren-
4-Neither our family name nor our nationality exempt us from the need to repent of our sins and turn to God-
5-God honors your efforts for his kingdom work even if they seem like ordinary daily tasks-
Strange thought-if corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from?
I've learned-be careful your marriage doesn't become a duel instead of a duet-
5 things I want to know-
1-Does our understanding of faith change as we get older?
2-Is God upset with us when we have questions about our christian faith?
3-Are faith and feelings connected?
4-Is doubt the absence of faith or does faith overcome doubt?
5-Why was Abraham called the father of faith?
Scripture for today-No harm comes to a good person, but an evil person's life is full of trouble. The Lord hates those who tell lies but is pleased with those who keep their promises. Wise people keep what they know to themselves, but fools can't keep from showing how foolish they are. Hard workers will become leaders, but those who are lazy will be slaves. Worry is a heavy load, but a kind word cheers you up. Good people take advice from their friends, but an evil person is easily led to do wrong. The lazy catch no food to cook, but a hard worker will have great wealth. Doing what is right is the way to life, but there is another way that leads to death. Proverbs 12:21-28

A BAD WINTER SCENE
Here are my thoughts for today
1-So often we are too busy being critics of the church to be worshippers of Christ-
2-How long has it been since you sang with gladness or gave with thanksgiving?
3-When the fierceness of Satan scares you, the faithfulness of God should encourage you-
4-Too often we perceive God as a stern disciplinarian who's watching us closely so he can punish our most insignificant wrong doings-
5-Do not think that consequences do not follow wrong choices-
Strange thought-Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours? They are both dogs.
I've learned-Real friends are those who , when you've made a fool of yourself, don't feel you've done a permanent job.
5 things I want to know
1-What would the world be like if the Holy Spirt was withdrawn from it?
2-Will the Holy Spirit ever be withdrawn from the world?
3-Can Christians have doubts about Christianity and still be Christians?
4-Can Christians have blind spots in their faith?
5-Is a struggle with doing God's will a lack of faith or disobedience?
Scripture for today-Evil people are trapped by their evil talk, but good people stay out of trouble. People will be rewarded for what they say, and they will also be rewarded for what they do. Fools think they are doing right, but the wise listen to advice. Fools quickly show that they are upset, but the wise ignore insults. An honest witness tells the truth, but a dishonest witness tells lies. Careless words stab like a sword, but wise words bring healing. Truth will continue forever, but lies are only for a moment. Those who plan evil are full of lies, but those who plan peace are happy. Proverbs 12:13-20

WHAT ALOT OF SNOW
Here are my thoughts for today
1-Don't live under the delusion of self sovereignty-
2-When you ignore God's truth you position yourself for a humbling-
3-Saying yes to God is not a one time thing-
4-Being two is cute, staying two is unacceptable-
5-The Bible says that God makes your heart his home-
Strange thought-You are never closer to failure than during your greatest successes-
I've learned-The measure of a man is not how great his faith is but how great his love is!
5 things I want to know
1-What is the main stumbling block keeping people from becoming Christians?
2-Christianity spread very rapidly in its early days, yet today has only minimal growth-why?
3-Christians say "don't look at us look at Christ"--are we worried what people would find if our lives were scrutinized?
4-Will we as Christians always live up to the standards of Jesus? If not, have we sinned by falling short?
5-Could the world survive without all the humanitarian deeds the church does in Jesus's name?
Scripture for today-Wicked people die and they are no more, but a good person's family continues. The wisdom of the wise wins praise, but there is no respect for the stupid. A person who is not important but has a servant is better off than someone who acts important but has no food. Good people take care of their animals, but even the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. Those who work their land will have plenty of food, but the one who chases empty dreams is not wise. The wicked want what other evil people have stolen, but good people want to give what they have to others. Proverbs 12:7-12

A COLD WINTER'S NIGHT
Here are my thoughts for today
1-Never think God's delays are God's denials-
2-Hold on, hold fast, hold out-
3-Faith is a radar that sees through the fog, the reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see-
4-Sometimes it is easier to have faith in God than to accept the fact that God has faith in you-
5-Have no doubt, God will not tolerate spiritual arrogance-
Strange thought-Behind every self defeating behavior is a lie that you believe-
I've learned-You don't have to do what you've always done-
5 things I want to know
1-Can a Christian do an evil deed and still be a Christian (not lose his salvation)?
2-Can a Christian ever lose their salvation-if so when or how?
3-Do Christians tend to pass off their sins as mistakes?
4-How or why is it "more blessed to give than to receive"?
5-Is it appropriate for the church to confess it's sins of the past?
Scripture for today-Anyone who loves learning accepts correction, but a person who hates being corrected is stupid. The lord is pleased with a good person, but he will punish anyone who plans evil. Doing evil brings no safety at all, but a good person has safety and security. A good wife is like a crown for her husband, but a disgraceful wife is like a disease in his bones. The plans that good people make are fair, but the advice of the wicked will trick you. The wicked talk about killing people, but the words of good people will save them. Proverbs 12:1-6

Monday February 2, 2009 thought for the day
A COLD WINTER DAY
Here are my thoughts for today
1-It is only because of problems we grow mentally and spiritually-
2-A person is most often defeated by himself, not his opponents-
3-Justice and power must be brought together so whatever is just may be powerful and whatever is powerful may be just-
4-Trust is the emotional glue that binds followers and leaders together-
5-Success is never final, failure is never fatal, it is courage that counts-
Strange thought-You can't get the answer you need when you are talking all the time-
I've learned-Never love the gift more than the giver-
5 things I want to know
1-If people could see hell before dying, wouldn't that cause them to turn from sinful ways?
2-Does God owe us one more chance to come to him?
3-Is the reality of hell a stumbling block to some in keeping them from coming to God?
4-Why has the church over history intentionally glossed over the tragic instances of abuse?
5-Do Christians continually do things they shouldn't?
Scripture for today-Those who trust in riches will be ruined. But a good person will be healthy like a green leaf. Whoever brings trouble to his family will be left with nothing but he wind. A a fool will be a servant to the wise. A good person gives life to others; the wise person teaches others how to live. Good people will be rewarded on earth, and the wicked and the sinners will be punished. Proverbs 11:28-31

Sunday February 1, 2009 thought for the day-
PRETTY WINTER SCENE
Here are my thoughts for today
1-There is one thing more powerful than learning from experience and that is not learning from experience-
2-Winning is more than being number 1-
3-Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death-
4-There is no accuser so terrible as our God given conscience-
5-God specializes in the impossible-
Strange thought-Pessimists need a kick on the can'ts-
I've learned-Don't waste time learning the "tricks of the trade", instead learn the trade-
5 things I want to know
1-Why did God allow such wicked leaders to be born who had millions of innocent people killed?
2-Is the word faith a verb or a noun?
3-Does a soul exist before conception, if so were is it at?
4-Do parents create a soul along with a life in the act of conception?
5-Why wouldn't God give people a second chance after death to accept him?
Scripture for today-Some people give much but get back even more. Others don't give what they should and end up poor. Whoever gives to others will get richer, those who help others will themselves be helped. People curse those who keep all the grain, but they bless the one who is willing to sell it. Whoever looks for good will find kindness, but whoever looks for evil will find trouble. Proverbs 11:24-27
