HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-It isn't that prayer works. God works. God works when people pray-
2-The greatest failure is to not try-
3-Once you find something you love to do, be the best at doing it-
4-Not all advice is good advice-
5-Wise counsel is not always easy to hear but it is a good thing even if it
hurts to hear it-
STRANGE THOUGHT-A closed mouth never gathers feet-
I'VE LEARNED-You never get over grief completely until you express it
fully-
DID YOU KNOW-John D. Rockefeller was the first billionaire in the United
States-
5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Did Mary understand Jesus' ministry ?
2-Why were people attracted to listen to John the Baptist?
3-Would John the Baptist be considered a Christian?
4-Did John the Baptist have any religious training?
5-Where did John the Baptist's spiritual wisdom come from?
BIBLE TRIVIA-What three rulers, hearing Paul defend himself in Caesarea,
agreed that he deserved no punishment?
Yesterday's answer-Felix Acts 24:23
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY Matthew 20:20-28
20 Then the wife of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons. She bowed before him and asked him to do something for her.
21 Jesus asked, "What do you
want?"
She
said, "Promise that one of my sons will sit at your right side and the other
will sit at your left side in your kingdom."
22 But Jesus said, "You don't understand what
you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I am about to drink?"[a]
The
sons answered, "Yes, we can."
23 Jesus said to them, "You will drink from my cup.
But I cannot choose who will sit at my right or my left; those places belong to
those for whom my Father has prepared them."
24 When the other ten followers heard this,
they were angry with the two brothers.
25 Jesus called all the followers together and
said, "You know that
the rulers of the non-Jewish people love to show their power over the people.
And their important leaders love to use all their authority. 26 But it should not be that way among you.
Whoever wants to become great among you must serve the rest of you like a
servant.27 Whoever wants to become first among you must
serve the rest of you like a slave. 28 In the same way, the Son of Man did not come
to be served. He came to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many
people."
PRAYER
FOR TODAY
Father,
we thank You for those who go to the uttermost parts of the world and proclaim
the good news of Jesus Christ, making known the “unknown God” to the people of
that land. From the very beginning You created a hunger within our hearts to
serve you, but far too many misfeed that hunger and instead “worship gold,
silver or stone, images from by the art and thoughts of man”. Instead we are to
feed that hunger by loving You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. As
we draw near to You, You promise to draw near to us. We are grateful for the
wooing of the Holy Spirit that convicts us our sin and reveals Your great love
to us. Thank You for making Yourself known to us in Your Word as we immerse
ourselves in Your truths. Amen.
