Thursday August 3, 2017 thought for the day

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Though Pilate turned Jesus over to the Jewish crowd, his crucifixion was clearly carried out by Roman soldiers-
2-Many first century Jews died, just like Jesus on a cross, but not at the hands of other Jews.  Crucifixion was not a Jewish form of execution.  It was exclusive to the Romans as an extreme penalty-
3-If Jesus was not God, he had nothing to offer mankind-
4-Almost from the very beginning, sects like the Gnostics held views that separated them completely from the orthodox church views-
5-Jesus' earliest followers faced persecution and death either at the hands of Jewish authorities or the Roman government-

STRANGE THOUGHT
The older you get, the more you appreciate being at home doing nothing-

I'VE LEARNED
You know who you are by knowing where you are-

DID YOU KNOW
The densest substance on earth is the metal osmium-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Why is there no scripture written by Joseph?
2-Which is more important-our faithfulness at church, at work or at home?
3-Can Christians separate their life into two segments-sacred and secular?
4-Why did God's plan of salvation have to include the painful execution sacrifice of Jesus on a cross?
5-How can we say Jesus is the only way to heaven without sounding arrogant or intolerant?
