Tuesday August 1, 2017 thought for the day

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Obedience to laws without a sense of mercy was empty of spiritual value-
2-In the New Testament, scribes and pharisees are basically one in the same-
3-Jesus condemned some pharisees for their concern with petty details at the expense of the law's true purpose-
4-A negative version of the Golden Rule-What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor-
5-Jesus was condemned and executed as a nationalistic freedom fighter who threatened Rome and not for claiming to be the messiah-

STRANGE THOUGHT
This too will pass--it might pass like a kidney stone but it will pass-

I'VE LEARNED
Worship is not about what building you occupy, it is about who occupies you-

DID YOU KNOW
There are five trillion trillion atoms in one pound of iron-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-How did Joseph feel when Pharaoh made him governor?
2-Did Joseph have any idea that God was directing his life before he became governor?
3-Why do we remember what we would be better off forgetting?
4-When Joseph was governor over Egypt why didn't he try to contact his family back in Canaan?
5-What thoughts might Joseph have had about his brother Simeon in the prison while waiting his brother's  return from Canaan?

BIBLE TRIVIA
Hebrews 2:12   “Then, I will tell my brothers and sisters about you, I will praise you in the public meeting.” This new testament passage is found in what old testament book?
Answer for today   Psalm 22:22

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
1 Thessalonians 5:11-13   "So encourage each other and give each other strength, just as you are doing now.
12 Now, brothers and sisters, we ask you to appreciate those who work hard among you, who lead you in the Lord and teach you. 13 Respect them with a very special love because of the work they do. Live in peace with each other."

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, help me to use my words and actions to cause your church and our spiritual leaders to be encouraged and strengthened-

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING-
