PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful man
Father, how marvelous is Your love.  So many things in life are unobtainable, just beyond our grasp, but You make Your love available to everyone who calls on the name of the Lord. Your love and tender care mends the broken heart; it cleanses the sin-filled heart, and it encompasses the empty heart. How utterly amazing that You would pour out Your sinless, extravagant love on the vilest of sinners who truly believes. Incredible to comprehend, but nothing in all creation can separate us from Your gracious and compassionate love. Thank You, Father for loving me.  Amen.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Thankful man
Father, the conflict remains between our loyalty to You and our duties to the world. We are to be in this world, but not of the world. On the eve of Jesus’ crucifixion He asked You to sanctify the disciples by praying, I have given them Your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world…..And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.” Like the Jews we too struggle paying our taxes to our government knowing that so much is used irresponsibly and at times immorally in opposition to principles taught in Scripture. But we are also called to obey our authorities. We also recognize the benefits we enjoy collectively and individually through the collection of our taxes so we ask for grace as we deal with this matter every year. Keep us honest and fair so that we maintain our integrity, for that matters to You. Just as the Jews were told to pay taxes to the emperor whose coin bore His image, may we likewise give proper honor and devotion to You whose image we bear in our hearts. Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING!

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful man
Father, because of Your marvelous grace You commissioned Your Son, Jesus, to die for an ungrateful, unreceptive and hostile people, and that includes me.  It’s easy to be critical of Peter who so boldly asserted that he would never deny Christ, but did so within hours and at such a critical moment. Yet Peter’s actions help us to view the tender grace You poured out on him at his lowest moment. His bitterness dissolved into brokenness. You are close to the brokenhearted, and deliver those whose spirit has been crushed. It is so instructive and encouraging to know that weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. Peter, a fearful failure who grew into a faithful follower, eventually gave his life for the cause of Christ. May we too have such a resolve to follow you even if it means we may lay down our life for You. Thank You for Your amazing grace that looks beyond our faults and sees our need. Amen.

Nothing within ourselves or our works could elevate us to such a lofty position nor could it open the door to salvation or obtain for us the eternal dwelling Jesus is preparing for all who follow Him. All our soul’s diseases are submerged in the life giving blood of the Lamb who was slain once and for all for our sins. We thank You for breaking the chains that bound us to an evil taskmaster and setting us free to live an abundant life here and now and even more fully in the hereafter. We thank You for Christ who made it all possible. It is in His name that we pray. Amen.

Jesus, You reign over all the earth and You also reign in my heart!  What an awesome blessing this truth brings to me today. As I consider that it is not by my might, nor by my power, but by the Spirit of the Lord of Hosts that my personal mountains are removed. Jesus, I know that most of the mountains that block my path are not moved by a simple prayer of faith, but these mountains are often the very essence of how You work through my life to reveal Your faithfulness and Your power in the midst of my struggles. You develop godly character as I am challenged to remain steadfast and faithful in my Christian walk. You make my feet like hind’s feet that enable me to walk upon high places. Help me to keep my gaze continually upward during the climb so that I see You reigning on Your throne as I bring You glory and honor!  Amen.

In Your compassion You delivered the Israelites time after time and You do the same for us. We’ve grown to expect it and therefore we often take for granted Your kind provisions, Your delivering power and Your sustaining grace that guides us through each step of our journey. We can walk in confidence because we walk in step with Your Spirit, for Your Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. PRAYER FOR TODAY

Praying man
Jesus, we want to fix our eyes, our thoughts, and our affections on You, our blessed Redeemer.  Though You faced enormous opposition that would provide understandable excuse for altering Your redemption plan, nevertheless You endured the cross and scorned it’s shame. Thank you that you died for our sins and rose in victory and returned to Your Father to sit at His right hand. When we consider the depth of Your commitment we’re even more determined to be faithful in the night seasons of our Christian walk.  Help us to endure by keeping our eyes, not on that which is seen, but on the unseen future rewards that You promise to those who are faithful.  We pray this in Your name.  Amen.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful man
Father, we are advised by the apostle James to ask for any wisdom we lack, and You will give generously to us that which we ask. So much wisdom is attained by carefully reading, studying, and applying the Scripture. Additional wisdom is granted through the experiences we go through in life and also observing others, their response to critical situations along with their life choices and the results that follow. There are many things we observe and learn as we go through life’s journey. Help us to hold on to that which will profit us, that which will benefit or broaden our understanding. Enable us to reject and dispense of that which is in direct contrast to Your Holy Word so that we are not led astray or misguided by teachings the world deems to be knowledgeable or wise. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

3-Why didn't the Israelites drive out all the people of Canaan as God had instructed them to do?

Then what you say will do good to those who listen to you.30 And do not make the Holy Spirit sad. The Spirit is God’s proof that you belong to him. God gave you the Spirit to show that God will make you free when the final day comes. 31 Do not be bitter or angry or mad. Never shout angrily or say things to hurt others. Never do anything evil. 32 Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful man
Father, if we guard Your teachings in Scripture as the apple of our eye we will love and cherish them. We will read, honor and obey them, aligning all other input with Your Word. It must meet the sniff test by measuring up to unchanging Biblical principles or be rejected on that basis. You change the hearts and souls of men and women, boys and girls, and yet You are the changeless, everlasting Father whom we worship now and for all eternity. May we continue in what have learned and become convinced of because it increases our faith and anchors our spirit in this world where instability, fear, and distrust are the order of the day. Keep us true and growing in our faith, we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful man
Father, there is incredible blessing in the miracle of new birth and along with this gift of life comes extraordinary, lifetime responsibility for the parents. May we as parents realize the impact of imparting Scriptural teaching by instruction as well as example from the time of their conception. We’re grateful for our family, other Christian brothers and sisters, our church and Christian ministries that also inspire our children to live for You. We cannot force our children to walk in Your ways, but we can certainly show them the way to life everlasting and equip them with the Scriptural knowledge that will make them wise for salvation. May this always be our highest priority. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING!

2-Money is often the leading competitor in our hearts to our devotion to God-
3-Our desires and appetites are never fully and finally satisfied.  They always come back for more-
4-When you are with friends you trust, you drop your guard-
5-So many of our life regrets were done when we were with "friends"-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of a bottle?

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW

2-How many animals were sacrificed every year by all the Israelites for all their feasts, sacrifices and burnt offerings?
3-How could the smell of burned meat of the sacrificed animals be a pleasing aroma to God?
4-What does the term "the family of the unsandled" mean?
5-Why did the early Mosaic law not speak against polygamy or incest?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Whom did God ask?-"Hast thou killed, and also taken possession?"

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   Philippians 2:3
When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride be your guide. Instead, be humble and give more honor to others than to yourselves.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful man
Father, as we corporately worship we come together, both young and old, from various ethnic, social and spiritual backgrounds.  Some of us were raised by godly parents and early on chose to follow in Your ways; others more recently enlisting in Your service. There is so much to be gained from young and new in the faith. And we learn so much from the older. We learn from each other and we increase our faith as we continue in that which we have learned and become convinced of because we know those people from whom we learned it. We have seen the commendable results exemplified in their lives and aspire to implement the good into our own. Keep us keeping on in You we pray, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

GREATLY BLESSED, HIGHLY FAVORED, IMPERFECT BUT FORGIVEN CHILD OF GOD!

Sunday April 13, 2014 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-The wise person makes decisions based not on simply today, but on tomorrow and the days after that also-
2-A fool is a person who knows the difference between right and wrong but doesn't care-
3-If we have friends who don't care about their own lives, they won't be concerned about ours either-
4-When it comes to our own finances, what needs guarding is not our money but our heart-
5-God wants to be the master and ruler of our lives, not our backup plan-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check to see when you say the paint is wet?

I'VE LEAREND-When you delight in giving to others, you free yourself financially-

DID YOU KNOW-Odds of being killed by falling out of bed are one in two million-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-If no one was to work on the Sabbath, what did the shepherds do?  Who took care of the sheep (which represented wealth)?
2-Why did God rest on the 7th day?.  Was he really resting?  Was he tired?
3-What did God mean when he said "You may not do any work on the Sabbath?
4-Did Jesus do away with all the laws and regulations that God had given Moses for the Israelites to live by?
5-Why do we select the 10 commandments out of all the laws given by God to Moses for the Israelite people and ignore all the rest?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Whom did God ask?-"Is anything too hard for the Lord?"

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   Psalm 51:10-12
10 Create in me a pure heart, God,
And make my spirit right again.
11 Do not send me away from you
Or take your Holy Spirit away from me.
12 Give me back the joy of your salvation.
Keep me strong by giving me a willing spirit.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful man
Father, there are so many gray areas in life where we  may differ with our own family or even the best of friends. We may vary in our preferences of personality styles, giftings, and tastes. But when it comes to the eternal truths, unchanging principles and commands of Scripture it is not for us to pick and choose. We must give full attention to the words of Scripture and build a godly heritage that we can pass on to our children and our children’s children. We must uphold and teach the Scriptures that are able to make us wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. We want to remain steadfast and faint not as we seek to be people of deep conviction with growing faith and sterling character, making a positive difference in our sphere of influence. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
