Monday July 20, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Carry a heart that never hates, carry a smile that never fades, carry a touch that never hurts-
2-Be kind whenever possible.  It is always possible-
3-A good character is the best tombstone-
4-Carve your name on hearts, not marble-
5-Today, give a stranger one of your smiles,  it might be the only sunshine they see all day-

STRANGE THOUGHT-I tried to catch some fog, but I mist-

I'VE LEARNED-Real courage comes from God-

DID YOU KNOW-Bookkeeper is the only word in the English language with three consecutive double letters-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-There is some doubt as to whether or not Moses wrote the first five books of the old testament.  If he didn't write them, who did?
2-Is there any historical evidence outside of the Bible that people such as Moses or Abraham existed?
3-Why didn't the Israelites identify which mountain was Mount Sinai?
4-Who were the first peoples of Genesis--Jews, Hebrews, or Israelites?
5-When did the Jewish people first come to be known as "Children of Israel"?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who said "Why wasn't this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor"?
Answer      Judas Iscariot     John 12:5

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY    Luke 7:21-23
21 At that time, Jesus healed many people of their sicknesses, diseases, and evil spirits, and he gave sight to many blind people. 22 Then Jesus answered John’s followers, “Go tell John what you saw and heard here. The blind can see, the crippled can walk, and people with skin diseases are healed. The deaf can hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is preached to the poor. 23 Those who do not stumble in their faith because of me are blessed!”

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying man Heavenly Father, in this age of competition and egocentricity help us to resist the Mindset of the world.  We’re tempted to focus on big numbers, large budgets, expensive buildings, newest resources, impressive staff and other worldly comparisons of those who share in this calling to minister to our lost and dying world. When our focus is narrowed to imitating or competing with other ministry groups we lose sight of the One to whom we are honoring and our priorities become misaligned. We want to thank You for the scores of people and ministries that are making a tremendous spiritual impact for Your Kingdom, the vast majority of whom are unheralded and unseen. As Your followers, move us beyond pettiness, jealousy, and possessiveness to appreciate and affirm those who might have a different way of presenting the Gospel as long as it is in accordance with the Scripture. Help us to support and pray for one another as we carry forth the light of God’s Word.  You have called each one of us to lift up Your name and You will draw people to Yourself. As we seek You above all else You will be our daily guide and out of our hearts will flow abundant springs of living water that will not run dry even in a drought stricken land. Amen.

-May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy-
