Sunday January 16, 2017 thought for the day

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Prayer is our lifeline to God-
2-We do not make requests of God because we are righteous but because of God's great mercy-
3-God uses circumstances, other people and most importantly his word to bring people back to him-
4-It is a mistake to read the Bible as dry history and miss the deep personal instructions-
5-So often, our prayers are without passion and true compassion for others-

STRANGE THOUGHT
1-Most people do not listen with the intent to understand, they listen with intent to reply-

I'VE LEARNED
Grace comes to us not occasionally but constantly and aggressively-

DID YOU KNOW
A single share of Coca-Cola stock purchased in 1919, when the company went public, would have been worth over $100,000 now-

4 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-How do you stay close to God?
2-Why should someone who has never heard the gospel believe it?
3-Why doesn't the Bible define sin?
4-What is being happy?
5-What is the difference in joy and happiness

BIBLE TRIVIA
In what Bible book is this quotation found-"The land by the Mediterranean Sea, in which you live, will become pastures, fields for shepherds, and pens for sheep."
Answer for the day       Zephaniah

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY
John 5:20-21   The Father loves the Son and shows the Son all the things he himself does. But the Father will show the Son even greater things than this so that you can all be amazed. 21 Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to those he wants to.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Father, help me to stay aware of your presence with me every moment of the day.  Keep me attuned to what you want to show me about yourself-

MAY YOU HAVE ENOUGH HAPPINESS TO MAKE YOU SWEET, ENOUGH TRIALS TO MAKE YOU STRONG, ENOUGH SORROW TO KEEP YOU HUMAN AND ENOUGH HOPE TO MAKE
