Friday June 7, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-A life of faith should be active and proactive-
2-In a relationship, nothing takes the place of your presence-
3-You don't have to speak to encourage-
4-You have the power to change someone's life simply by the words you speak-
5-Faith is not "belief in works" but works coming out of a settled trust in God-

STRANGE THOUGHT-An unemployed jester is nobody's fool-

I'VE LEARNED-No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful-

DID YOU KNOW-There are more caribou in Alaska than there are people-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Did any of Paul's traveling companions on the way to Damascus become Jesus followers also?
2-Why did Paul believe the voice to be that of Jesus?
3-Paul was an educated man of high position.  Did he need to be humbled before God could use him?
4-Why did God choose Ananias to meet up with Paul in Damascus?
5-Did Ananias know the difference in a dream and a vision?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What fat priest of Israel died when he heard the ark had been captured?
Yesterday's answer-Joash   2 Chronicles  24:17

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   Acts 7:1-8
The high priest said to Stephen, “Are these things true?”
Stephen answered, “Brothers and fathers, listen to me. Our glorious God appeared to Abraham, our ancestor, in Mesopotamia before he lived in Haran. God said to Abraham, ‘Leave your country and your relatives, and go to the land I will show you.’[a] So Abraham left the country of Chaldea and went to live in Haran. After Abraham’s father died, God sent him to this place where you now live. God did not give Abraham any of this land, not even a foot of it. But God promised that he would give this land to him and his descendants, even before Abraham had a child. This is what God said to him: ‘Your descendants will be strangers in a land they don’t own. The people there will make them slaves and will mistreat them for four hundred years. But I will punish the nation where they are slaves. Then your descendants will leave that land and will worship me in this place.’[b] God made an agreement with Abraham, the sign of which was circumcision. And so when Abraham had his son Isaac, Abraham circumcised him when he was eight days old. Isaac also circumcised his son Jacob, and Jacob did the same for his sons, the twelve ancestors[c] of our people.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manDaily prayer:Father, the story that Jesus shares about the rich man who took no thought for his life after death is a picture of so many who live only for the “here and now”. They gather treasures that have no eternal value and dismiss the treasures that lasts for all eternity; those which can never perish, spoil or fade kept in heaven for the believer who will later claim their treasure trove. May this Bible teaching bring comfort and peace of heart to those who suffer in this present life, much like Lazarus in the story Jesus told.  May they be reminded of the joyous life yet to come where there is no pain, sorrow, or alienation?  Help us to be faithful in warning others to prepare not just for this temporal life, but for all of eternity.  Amen.

SMILE, LAUGH, FORGIVE, BELIEVE AND LOVE, OVER AND OVER AGAIN!
