Reveal to me the way that I can show genuine concern for the unbeliever, through my caring words and in my loving deeds, who needs to see the love of Christ represented in human form. In the blessed name of Jesus, I pray.  Amen.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thankful manFather, after the busyness of a work week, checking off our list of many obligations, coming here or going there and fulfilling our daily duties it is so fitting that we set aside a day where we consecrate our hearts for worship and fuel up spiritually for another week. You knew our need when You established the Ten Commandments that command us to remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy. Temptations come from many sources that would squeeze out our holy obligation to worship with other believers on the Lord’s Day.  Whether we are single or a family unit help us to establish the weekly pattern of gathering with other saints, to hear what You would have to say to us and to declare Your worthship in our worship. Like the Psalmist, “I was glad when they said unto me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord'”. Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING!

4-When God spoke to Abraham about sacrificing his son, did he ever question God or ask for a verification?
5-Did Abraham value his son any more than we do our sons today?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who know a man who had been caught up into the "third heaven"?

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    John 15:1-4
“I am the true vine; my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that does not produce fruit. And he trims and cleans every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce even more fruit. You are already clean because of the words I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. A branch cannot produce fruit alone but must remain in the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit alone but must remain in me.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thankful man Father, we are grateful that Jesus hears our prayers, knows of our troubles and intercedes on our behalf. But there are times when we are in need of the compassion of a caring “in the flesh” friend; one who will pray, listen, lend support, and interject thoughts, experiences or suggestions that help us to bear our troublesome burdens. Instead of casting judgment they lend a thought or hand in addition to their personal time to meet our need(s).  Thank you for caring friends who bear with us, lift us up out of despair, and help us discover solutions that we, by ourselves, cannot find.  Help me to be that kind of friend, in the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

GREATLY BLESSED, HIGHLY FAVORED, IMPERFECT BUT FORGIVEN CHILD OF GOD!

Sunday August 24, 2014 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Faith is fragile, something that needs tending-
2-The Christian church has always coexisted with heresy-
3-The church is the Christian community and it exists to worship God and live out the
commandment given by Jesus to love God and your neighbor as yourself-
4-Jesus wants to change the way you are thinking so he can change the way you are living-
5-Faith is hope one step farther-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Any tool, nut, bolt, screw when dropped will roll to the least
accessible place in the universe-

evident and at other time barely discernable-

DID YOU KNOW-Millard Fillmore's mother feared he may have been mentally retarded-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Why would God tell Abraham (and why would Abraham obey) to take Isaac and offer him
as a burnt offering when the Jews were specifically forbidden to sacrifice a person?
2-Why did God need to prove Abraham's faith in him?
3-If God knew the outcome of Abraham's faith test, why did he need to do it?
4-Did God not know the heart of Abraham?
5-Did Abraham love the gift of God (Isaac) or God himself?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw Jesus on the right hand of God?
Answer for today    Steven   Acts 7:55

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY  Mark:28-34
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard Jesus arguing with the Sadducees. Seeing that Jesus gave good answers to their questions, he asked Jesus, “Which of the commands is most important?”
29 Jesus answered, “The most important command is this: ‘Listen, people of Israel! The Lord our God is the only Lord. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31 The second command is this: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ There are no commands more important than these.”
32 The man answered, “That was a good answer, Teacher. You were right when you said God is the only Lord and there is no other God besides him. 33 One must love God with all his heart, all his mind, and all his strength. And one must love his neighbor as he loves himself. These commands are more important than all the animals and sacrifices we offer to God.”
34 When Jesus saw that the man answered him wisely, Jesus said to him, “You are close to the kingdom of God.” And after that, no one was brave enough to ask Jesus any more questions.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thankful manFather, the Scriptures, filled with principles and doctrine, come alive when applied to everyday life. We see this when reading the positive and negative examples of Bible characters and the way they handled everyday disappointment and conflict in their lives. Though Paul and Barnabas were in sharp disagreement they surely both made important points regarding the merit of John Mark’s qualifications. Help us to exercise the gift of disagreeing a point without being a disagreeable person. Instead of slandering an individual(s) help us to respect differing views when the answer isn’t clearly laid out in Scripture. As we prayerfully discuss our differences and remain respectful toward one another we will be bound all together in perfect unity, bearing with each other and forgiving the one we have a grievance against. We will forgive as You have forgiven us.  And over these virtues we will put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

I WISH YOU LOVE IN YOUR HEART.....PEACE IN YOUR SOUL.....AND JOY IN YOUR LIFE.....ALWAYS!!!

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thankful man Father, the call to snatch the sinner from hell is similar to a fireman snatching one who would otherwise be engulfed in flames. We are in the soul saving business and our mission is urgent since time is running out. Just as a loving brother or sister reached out to us with the message of salvation we too want to do the same for others who are bound for hell. With the helmet of salvation as our covering and the sword of the Spirit as our guide we want to direct others to Christ to be saved from their sins. It is in His name that we pray. Amen.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful man Father, we glean so much from the characters of the Bible; both bad and good examples of those who thought themselves to be above Your commands and those who heeded Your warnings. Achan in Joshua 7 had a heart of greed, a lying spirit, and prized himself above innocent lives who perished as a result of his sinful actions. Your judgment eventually came upon him and he paid with his life and that of his entire family. But we also see Noah who labored for years building an unprecedented mammoth boat for the torrential flood waters Your warned him about. He heeded Your warning and thereby saved his family’s lives and the pairing of many animals that would reproduce on the earth following the flood. Help us to realize that we are wise to follow Your warnings given in the commands of Scripture. To feel that we are the exception is a lie from the pit of hell that will immediately or eventually lead to our demise. You warn because You love us and want the very best for us, Your children. Remind us often; through Scripture, through fellow believers, through negative and positive examples we see all about us, and through the inner working of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Honor God and obey his commands,
Because this is all people must do.
14 God will judge everything,
Even what is done in secret,
The good and the evil.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thankful manFather, we read where Joshua placed a stone under the oak tree to serve as a witness against anyone who heard Your words spoken through godly leaders and yet chose to deny You. The stone under the oak tree in Schechem was witness to those who remained true or those who denied the faith. The stone was unchanging from day to day, year to year just as our promises should be. It was an inanimate witness unable to speak, but today we have living witnesses within our family, community, and church that can either speak up that we are people of truth or deny our claims. Our words will be demonstrated in our attitudes and actions and we will impact these eye witnesses in regard to their eternal future. No matter the consequence in this life, we never want to deny You in what we say or do. Amen.

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE LOVE TO SHARE, HEALTH TO SPARE AND FRIENDS THAT CARE!

I, the God of Israel, will not leave them to die.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thankful manFather, it is through devout godly people that You repair, restore and rebuild lives as they raise up the unchanging, ever relevant ancient words of Scripture. It takes faithful watchmen who serve with great vigilance, untiring in presenting the unchanging truths of the Holy Scriptures to a world that is continuously and increasingly desecrating that which was once sacred. Father, help us to be watchmen for our families, co-workers, and friends as we carefully measure the present principles of this world by the eternal principles established in Scripture. Grant us courage to speak out when the foundations are being shaken just as the watchmen were not silent night or day. We do not stand in the gap alone but You, our Father, are with us and we stand in Your courage and strength!  Amen.

Thankful man Father, You made my heart to be the life-giving source for my physical existence and You also made my heart to be the life-giving source for my spiritual existence. Create in me a pure and contrite heart, O God, and establish a steadfast spirit within me. It is only in the power of Your Holy Spirit that I can faithfully guard my heart from the follies of this world. Fill me with the abundance of Your goodness so that it overflows into the lives of others as my conversation and conduct reflect Your residency within my heart. Help me, I pray, in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thankful manFather, we are grateful for those throughout history who chose to be men and women of faith, whose hearts were fashioned in Your image, for those who served Your purpose in their generation. We also want to serve Your purpose in our generation.  Help us to stay steadfast and strong as we run this race set before us.  Thankfully, in this race, we are not in competition to be the only prizewinner. Instead we take hold of the hands of those who run with us and invite those on the sidelines to join us.  We want to cross the finish line together so that we will all receive the grand prize of life eternal with You.  May we never give up! Amen.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful manFather, as the vast majority of our readers joined together in worship on Sunday, we were undisturbed by the governing authorities. We thought nothing of opening the Scriptures or reciting them aloud as a congregation. We sang jubilantly without fear of being overheard by opposing forces who may be lurking in the shadows or those in our midst who are actually wolves disguised in sheep’s clothing. But there are others spread throughout the world who face these kinds of dangers and oppressive conditions every Sunday, and for that matter everyday. We pray for the visitation of the Holy Spirit to strengthen the persecuted believers. May their resolve to be followers of The Way remain firm and unyielding in their stand for Christ. We pray for those who lash out, act as spies, and torment the redeemed. May they come to faith just as Saul did, and become devoted followers of Christ, in great part due to the character witness of the persecuted believers. Grant a deep sense of peace to family members whose loved ones are undergoing persecution. May they find You to be their all in all, providing for their spiritual, emotional, and material needs. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

I WISH YOU LOVE IN YOUR HEART.....PEACE IN YOUR SOUL.....AND JOY IN YOUR LIFE.....ALWAYS!!!

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful manFather, thank You for Jesus who died on the cross for our sins; past, present and future. It was but a short time that He was held under the power of death, but He will die no more. Jesus is alive forevermore, and we who express godly faith will live forever, because Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life. As we believe on Him, though we may die a mortal death, we shall yet live an immortal life. Jesus holds the keys to the invisible world which will one day be made visible to all  creation. He also holds the key to our heart’s door, but will only turn that key when we invite His entrance. Today we not only invite Jesus to enter but we welcome His residency as His Holy Spirit constantly abides with us guiding us into all truth. We love You, Father, and we come to You through Your Son, Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.

SMILE, LAUGH, FORGIVE, BELIEVE AND LOVE, OVER AND OVER AGAIN!
