Tuesday August 26, 2014 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-You cannot truly appreciate joy without experiencing sorrow-
2-We must be the change we wish to see in the world-
3-Be wise in the way you act toward strangers-
4-The place of greatest risk is the place of greatest opportunity-
5-The place of opportunity is the place of obligation-

STRANGE THOUGHT-If you plant your tomatoes late, how do you make them ketchup?

I'VE LEARNED-If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal; someone always answers-

DID YOU KNOW-James Buchanan was the only unmarried president-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Abraham was know to be a liar, so why should he feel God could trust him?
2-Did Abraham have any doubt that Isaac would survive the test and live?
3-Did Isaac know ahead of time what Abraham was going to do with him?
4-Would Isaac and Abraham have had any conversation on the way to the mountain about what was going to happen?
5-How did Abraham know without a doubt that he and Isaac would both return from the mountain experience?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What seer described himself as "in the Spirit" when he received his visions?
Answer for today   John, author of Revelation

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Psalm 62:5-6
I find rest in God;
    Only he gives me hope.
He is my rock and my salvation.
    He is my defender;
    I will not be defeated.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thankful manFather, after the busyness of a work week, checking off our list of many obligations, coming here or going there and fulfilling our daily duties it is so fitting that we set aside a day where we consecrate our hearts for worship and fuel up spiritually for another week. You knew our need when You established the Ten Commandments that command us to remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy. Temptations come from many sources that would squeeze out our holy obligation to worship with other believers on the Lord’s Day.  Whether we are single or a family unit help us to establish the weekly pattern of gathering with other saints, to hear what You would have to say to us and to declare Your worthship in our worship. Like the Psalmist, “I was glad when they said unto me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord'”. Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING!
