Monday November 10, 2014 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Even if I am confused by some of the things Jesus said and did, I still believe in his life, death and resurrection and his vision of the Kingdom of God-
2-"Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep"-
3-"Do not repay anyone evil for evil"-
4-"If it is possible, live peaceably with all"-
5-Paul insisted that Jewish traditions are not compulsory for Christians, but faith in the resurrected Jesus is-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Do speed readers listen to books on a DVD on fast forward?

I'VE LEARNED-The towel is the weapon of the servant-

DID YOU KNOW-American explorer Richard Byrd once spent five months alone in Antarctica-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Which Gospel records the most parables?
2-If Jesus was sitting in a boat on the lake and large crowds were on the shore, how could they hear and understand what he was saying?
3-Which was the greatest parable told by Jesus?
4-Why did Jesus choose to speak in parables which many people, including the disciples, found confusing and had hidden meanings?
5-What is the meaning of "Whoever has much will be given more and whoever does not have much, even what he has will be taken away"?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who was healed of leprosy when he followed Elisha's instructions?
Answer for today   Naaman the Syrian    2 Kings 5:1-14

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY    Luke 17:20-21
20 Some of the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the kingdom of God come?”Jesus answered, “God’s kingdom is coming, but not in a way that you will be able to see with your eyes. 21 People will not say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ because God’s kingdom is among you.”

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying man Father, Your Word shows us that obedience brings about blessing but disobedience brings about dishonor. I want to honor You with my life, for there is nothing hidden from Your eyes. Help me to uphold the standards of truth and honesty as revealed through Your unchanging Holy Word; not by the standards of this world that customize “truth” to suit their ever-changing whims, nor by my brothers and sisters of the faith who often come up short. When I’m confronted with my sin help me to have the fortitude and courage to deal with it. May I not cover it up, seek to justify it, blame others, procrastinate or deceive myself. Thank You for granting complete forgiveness to those who come to You in contrition willing to lay down sin and take up righteousness. Amen.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy-
