Monday June 1, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-The nature of God is that he cannot tell an untruth-
2-A half truth is a whole lie-
3-When a half truth is represented as a whole truth, it becomes an untruth-
4-Lying is one thing God hates-
5-A lack of honesty affects our relationship with God and others as well-

STRANGE THOUGHT-I don't know how to act my age, I've never been this age before-

I'VE LEARNED-God often seems to use delays to test our obedience and patience-

DID YOU KNOW-The word byte is a contraction of "by eight"-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-What does scriptures mean saying-"He (Jesus) was put to death in the body but made alive by the spirit through whom he also went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago...."
2-How do you place all your anxiety on Jesus?
3-How do you "Grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"-
4-Was Timothy ever imprisoned?
5-Where were the people located that the book of Hebrews was written to?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who said "This is John the baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him"-
Answer    Herod       Matthew 14:2

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY     Luke 4:22-30
22 All the people spoke well of Jesus and were amazed at the words of grace he spoke. They asked, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”
23 Jesus said to them, “I know that you will tell me the old saying: ‘Doctor, heal yourself.’ You want to say, ‘We heard about the things you did in Capernaum. Do those things here in your own town!’” 24 Then Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, a prophet is not accepted in his hometown. 25 But I tell you the truth, there were many widows in Israel during the time of Elijah. It did not rain in Israel for three and one-half years, and there was no food anywhere in the whole country. 26 But Elijah was sent to none of those widows, only to a widow in Zarephath, a town in Sidon. 27 And there were many with skin diseases living in Israel during the time of the prophet Elisha. But none of them were healed, only Naaman, who was from the country of Syria.”
28 When all the people in the synagogue heard these things, they became very angry. 29 They got up, forced Jesus out of town, and took him to the edge of the cliff on which the town was built. They planned to throw him off the edge, 30 but Jesus walked through the crowd and went on his way.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying manFather, we glean so much from the characters of the Bible; both bad and good examples of those who thought themselves to be above Your commands and those who heeded Your warnings. Achan in Joshua 7 had a heart of greed, a lying spirit, and prized himself above innocent lives who perished as a result of his sinful actions. Your judgment eventually came upon him and he paid with his life and that of his entire family. But we also see Noah who labored for years building an unprecedented mammoth boat for the torrential flood waters You warned him about. He heeded Your warning and thereby saved his family’s lives and the pairing of many animals that would reproduce on the earth following the flood. Help us to realize that we are wise to follow Your warnings given in the commands of Scripture. To feel that we are the exception is a lie from the pit of hell that will immediately or eventually lead to our demise. You warn because You love us and want the very best for us. Remind us often; through Scripture, through fellow believers, through negative and positive examples we see all about us, and through the inner working of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy-
