Sunday June 24, 2918 thought for the day

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

1-Jesus was condemned and executed as a nationalistic freedom fighter who threatened Rome, not for claiming to be the messiah-
2-Crucifixion was not a Jewish form of execution.  It was exclusive to the Romans and was generally reserved for cases of runaway slaves or rebellion against Rome-
3-In Jesus own time in the nearby town of Ganola, an insurrection by Jews had met with similar roman execution-
4-Jesus' earliest followers faced persecution and death both at the hands of Jewish authorities and the Roman government-
5-The early Christians spent much of their time debating kosher foods and circumcision-

STRANGE THOUGHT
The very first bomb dropped by the allies on Berlin during WW2 killed the only elephant in the Berlin zoo-

I'VE LEARNED
If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there-

DID YOU KNOW
Sea otters inhabit water but never get wet because they have two coats of fur-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-What prayers does God listen to?
2-Can one belong to secret orders and be a christian?
3-How do you boast in your weakness?
4-What part of Jesus was "man" and what part was "God"?
5-Was Jonah alive in the belly of a whale or was he dead and then brought back to life again?

BIBLE TRIVIA
What king of Moab was noted as a keeper of sheep?
Answer for today        Mesha        2 Kings 3:4

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
1 Corinthians 2:11-12     Who knows the thoughts that another person has? Only a person’s spirit that lives within him knows his thoughts. It is the same with God. No one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we did not receive the spirit of the world, but we received the Spirit that is from God so that we can know all that God has given us.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I long to know you better.  Thank you for sending your spirit to help that happen-

I WISH YOU LOVE IN YOUR HEART-PEACE IN YOUR SOUL- JOY IN YOUR LIFE-ALWAYS-
