Saturday September 8, 2018 thought for the day

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-The expression "heaven and earth" is a biblical expression for the entire universe-
2-However great the wonders of heaven, God himself is heaven's greatest prize-
3-Worship involves more than singing and prayer-
4-In understanding scripture, our assumptions generally dictate our interpretation-
5-God's story abolishes our religious to do lists-

STRANGE THOUGHT
A thief who stole a calendar got twelve months-

I'VE LEARNED
Humans have a large capacity to lie to themselves-

DID YOU KNOW
The hedge hog has a large muscle running along its stomach so it can put its lithe body into a tight, prickly little ball for defense-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Scripture says that God "punishes the children for the sins of their parents to the 3rd and 4th generation". Why should children suffer for the parents behavior?
2-Is praying "whatever it takes" for someone to be saved a proper prayer?
3-Where did the idea of an altar call come from?  Is it biblical?
4-Is it easy or hard to be "saved"?
5-Are altar calls a necessary part of christian worship?

BIBLE TRIVIA
What prophet told Baasha, king of Israel, that the birds would feast on those of his household?
Answer for today        Jehu         1 Kings 16:4

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
Ephesians 1:3-4      Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ, God has given us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly world. That is, in Christ, he chose us before the world was made so that we would be his holy people—people without blame before him.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, I thank you for the spiritual blessings that are mine because of Jesus-

TODAY WILL NEVER COME AGAIN. BE A BLESSING, BE A FRIEND, ENCOURAGE SOMEONE, TAKE TIME TO CARE.
LET YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS HEAL AND NOT WOUND-
