Wednesday July 31, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Don't waste your life by thinking about people you don't like-
2-Sinners are prodigal children whom God wants to welcome home-
3-Jesus' sacrificial death for the sins of everyone made the Jewish temple's sacrificial system obsolete-
4-Sin is not just doing something wrong, it is also failing to do the good and right-
5-How you live today helps determine your destiny-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Life is a coin-you can spend it anyway you wish but you can only spend it once

I'VE LEARNED-Love is giving someone the ability to destroy you but trusting them not to-

DID YOU KNOW-Roosters cannot crow if they can't fully extend their necks-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-One time the disciples talked to Jesus about the temple and  the wonderful. architecture.  He said that wars, famines, desecration and destruction of the temple and other things would happen and that "this generation would not pass from the scene until all these things take place."  Did all happen as he said?
2-Why did Jesus say that only the father knows the time when "everyone sees the son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory".  Does God keep some things away from Jesus knowledge?
3-Is there a judgement taking place at the time of Jesus' return?
4-Jesus seems to say that doing good deeds is very important.  To what degree is this so?
5-What does the word "Eucharist" mean?

BIBLE TRIVIA-In which Gospel does John try to dissuade Jesus from being baptized?
Yesterday's answer-Mark

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Acts 12:19-25
Later Herod moved from Judea and went to the city of Caesarea, where he stayed. 20 Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon, but the people of those cities all came in a group to him. After convincing Blastus, the king’s personal servant, to be on their side, they asked Herod for peace, because their country got its food from his country.
21 On a chosen day Herod put on his royal robes, sat on his throne, and made a speech to the people. 22 They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not a human!” 23 Because Herod did not give the glory to God, an angel of the Lord immediately caused him to become sick, and he was eaten by worms and died.
24 God’s message continued to spread and reach people.
25 After Barnabas and Saul finished their task in Jerusalem, they returned to Antioch, taking John Mark with them.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, You have called us to a journey of faith where we learn to trust You for all that we have need of, for the present and the future – in our relationships, our health,  our earthly provisions and our spiritual needs.  Like the songwriter, Louisa Stead, wrote; “I’m so glad I learned to trust You, precious Jesus, Savior, Friend; For I know that You are with me; Will be with me to the end.  Jesus, Jesus How I trust You, How I’ve proved You o’er and o’er;  Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus,  O for grace to trust You more.”  Help us to find the sweetness of wholeheartedly trusting in You, we pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

LIVE SIMPLY! LOVE GENEROUSLY! CARE DEEPLY! SPEAK KINDLY! LEAVE THE REST WITH GOD!!
