Sunday September 8, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-There are few monsters which warrant the fears we have of them-
2-Our problems are God's possibilities-
3-Heaven's best took hell's worst and turned it into hope-
4-God does not criticize your affluence but your arrogance-
5-Accumulation of wealth is a popular defense against fear-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Why is Scotland yard in England?

I'VE LEARNED-You are rich when you have enough-

DID YOU KNOW-The nest of a bald eagle can weigh well over a ton-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-How many resurrection stories are there in scripture?
2-Whatever happened to the post resurrected Lazarus?
3-Are any of us today guilty like the elder brother of pride thinking we are better than our "brothers"?
4-Who was the most sinful brother, the younger one for unrighteous living or the elder for self righteousness?
5-Why could the elder brother not forgive the younger brother when he returned?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who according to Catholic tradition, was the first pope?
Today's answer-Peter

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   Acts 17:5-9
But some others became jealous. So they got some evil men from the marketplace, formed a mob, and started a riot. They ran to Jason’s house, looking for Paul and Silas, wanting to bring them out to the people. But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some other believers to the leaders of the city. The people were yelling, “These people have made trouble everywhere in the world, and now they have come here too! Jason is keeping them in his house. All of them do things against the laws of Caesar, saying there is another king, called Jesus.”
When the people and the leaders of the city heard these things, they became very upset. They made Jason and the others put up a sum of money. Then they let the believers go free.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, like a farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains we too wait for the yield of good fruit that will be produced by our labor in Christ. As we extend ourselves to others we not only seek to be a blessing to them but we also honor Your name. Sometimes the results of our labors can be lost in the long wait. When that happens we’re brought back to the Scriptural reality that nothing we do for Christ is in vain. It all counts and is credited to our account in the economy of God’s kingdom. We look not for the applause of others, but for the affirmation of the Holy Spirit whom we seek to please in all we do. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
