So you will not believe me if I tell you about things of heaven. 13 The only one who has ever gone up to heaven is the One who came down from heaven—the Son of Man.[a]

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   JOHN 3:4-8

5 But Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, unless you are born from water and the Spirit, you cannot enter God's kingdom. 6 Human life comes from human parents, but spiritual life comes from the Spirit.7 Don't be surprised when I tell you, 'You must all be born again.' 8The wind blows where it wants to and you hear the sound of it, but you don't know where the wind comes from or where it is going. It is the same with every person who is born from the Spirit."

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manJesus, You are the Light of the world. And because You reside in our hearts we are a reflection of Your holy light. The world we live in is dark and growing even darker as Satan’s sinister and deceitful schemes are being played out.  Help us not to look the other way when darkness is spreading lest the darkness overshadow us in time.  Instead would You empower us through the light of Your Holy Spirit to shine in a wicked and decadent society. We come against the darkness by speaking against wickedness in all forms.  And, Lord, help us to be consistent not only in what we speak but the manner in which we live.  May the fruit of light be evident in all we do.  It is in Your name, Jesus, that we pray.  Amen.

I'VE LEARNED-The greatness of a man is not how much wealth he acquires but in his integrity and ability to affect positively those around him-

DID YOU KNOW-A wind with speed of 74 miles per hour or more is designated a hurricane-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-When did the disciples become apostles?
2-Did Jesus ever get sick?
3-Jesus said "God has sent me to  the lost sheep of Israel".  Were the gentiles not to be included?
4-Did the disciples ever need physical healing from Jesus?
5-Did Jesus ever do a mass healing or were they all individual healing's?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What prophet warned the priest Amaziah that his wife would become a prostitute?
Yesterday's answer-1 Corinthians 6:15-16

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    John 1:35-39
35 The next day John[a] was there again with two of his followers.36 When he saw Jesus walking by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"[b]
37 The two followers heard John say this, so they followed Jesus. 38 When Jesus turned and saw them following him, he asked, "What are you looking for?"
They said, "Rabbi, where are you staying?" ("Rabbi" means "Teacher.")
39 He answered, "Come and see." So the two men went with Jesus and saw where he was staying and stayed there with him that day. It was about four o'clock in the afternoon.
Footnotes:
  1. John 1:35 John John the Baptist, who preached to people about Christ's coming (Matthew 3, Luke 3).
  2. John 1:36 Lamb of God Name for Jesus. Jesus is like the lambs that were offered for a sacrifice to God.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, You have commissioned us, as believers, to reach the lost, inviting them to surrender their lives to Jesus and receive forgiveness of sins.  It is at their point of surrender that we witness the supernatural working of the Holy Spirit; cleansing, restoring, purging, and maturing the young believer toward good works in Christ. We thank You for the cleansing work of the Holy Spirit at work in each of us who come to faith, equipping us with the endurance and perseverance needed to walk our journey of faith in the midst of an increasingly hostile and unaccepting society. It is through Jesus that we come to You in prayer. Amen.

Saturday September 29, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Never hesitate to trust the unknown future to a known God-
2-Worry is stewing without doing-
3-Grateful people are happy people-
4-You must cultivate an attitude of gratitude-
5-The way you think determines how you feel which determines how you act-

STRANGE THOUGHT-A will is a dead give away-

I'VE LEARNED-When you decide to put on the brakes on temptation is when tension begins-

DID YOU KNOW-A down burst is a downward blowing wind that sometimes comes blasting out of a thunderstorm.  The damage looks like tornado damage, because the wind can be as strong as an F2 tornado, but the debris is blown straight away from a point on the ground, not lifted into the air and transported downwind-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-When Jesus sent his disciples out 2 by 2, he stated they had great power and gave them specific instructions.  Did they do what he asked?
2-One of the things Jesus said in sending out his disciples was "Don't think the only reason I came to earth was to make everything peaceful and nice."  I thought he came to bring us peace.  What did he mean?
3-To put Jesus first in your life, do you have to forsake your family?
4-What is the longest time Jesus ever spent praying?
5-What miracle had the greatest impact on the disciples?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What epistle warns Christians against patronizing prostitutes?
Yesterday's answer-Samson    Judges 16:1-3

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   John 1:32-34
32-33 Then John said, "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven in the form of a dove and rest on him. Until then I did not know who the Christ was. But the God who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'You will see the Spirit come down and rest on a man; he is the One who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' 34 I have seen this happen, and I tell you the truth: This man is the Son of God."[a]
Footnotes:
  1. John 1:34 the Son of God Some Greek copies read "God's Chosen One."
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, we are grateful for the many believers who invested in our lives at the beginning of our spiritual journey and for those who presently spur us on to faithfulness, good works, and spiritual growth. Just as King Joash needed the example and teaching of a godly priest, we too, need the exemplary guidance of those whose walk with the Lord is mature, consistent and inspiring. Speak to our hearts if we are to provide guidance to one who is struggling along the way, one whose life is complicated by factors that can easily lead him to stray from the right path.  We want to be useful in building and expanding Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

TODAY WILL NEVER COME AGAIN. BE A BLESSING. BE A FRIEND. ENCOURAGE SOMEONE. TAKE TIME TO CARE. LET YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS HEAL AND NOT WOUND.
