Tuesday July 17, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-The out look may not always be good but the up look is great-
2-Patience and a critical spirit are mutually exclusive-
3-You become a better person when you learn to love impatient people-
4-Do not trust appearances for they are often false-
5-Do not invest yourself in wealth for it may disappear-

STRANGE THOUGHTS-The idea is to die young as old as possible-

I'VE LEARNED-Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else for you are the one who gets burned-

DID YOU KNOW-Baseball's home plate is seventeen inches wide-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-How did John the Baptist recognize who Jesus was?
2-Why was it not clear to the people when John told them who Jesus was?
3-Were any of Jesus' disciples previously followers of John the Baptist?
4-How many times did Jesus and John the Baptist meet?
5-Why was Jesus called a rabbi and yet John the Baptist wasn't?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What Roman official in Jerusalem bowed to the wishes of an uncontrolled mob?
Yesterday's' answer-Goliath    1 Samuel 17:4-6

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   Matthew 23:1-7
1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his followers, 2"The teachers of the law and the Pharisees have the authority to tell you what the law of Moses says.3 So you should obey and follow whatever they tell you, but their lives are not good examples for you to follow. They tell you to do things, but they themselves don't do them. 4They make strict rules and try to force people to obey them, but they are unwilling to help those who struggle under the weight of their rules.
5 "They do good things so that other people will see them. They enlarge the little boxes[a] holding Scriptures that they wear, and they make their special prayer clothes very long. 6 Those Pharisees and teachers of the law love to have the most important seats at feasts and in the synagogues. 7 They love people to greet them with respect in the marketplaces, and they love to have people call them 'Teacher.'

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, I pray for a spirit of cooperation and eagerness to contribute to the needs of the whole body, so thaYour Church is built not just with sweat, bricks, and mortar but with love, care, and cooperative teamwork. Then we will go forth in unity and purpose as we do our part in building each other up encouraging others to use their God-given talents and acquired skills, all the while striving for unity in the faith.  In our service we desire to please You even as we serve and strengthen one another.  In the name of Jesus we commit ourselves to faithful service. Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING-
