Saturday May 30, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY-
1-Respect God's name and give him praise by both your words and your life-
2-God cannot tolerate, ignore or excuse sin-
3-"The Lord is good and his love endures forever, his faithfulness continues through all generations"-
4-Our human weakness should never be used as a justification for sin-
5-The best sacrifice we can offer God is a faithful and obedient life-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Experience is that marvelous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again-

I'VE LEARNED-Children need to learn that their parent's words and actions go together-

DID YOU KNOW-The slash character is called a virgule, or solidus.  A URL uses slash characters, not backlash characters-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Does God require us to attain holiness or is it his gift to us?
2-What does the Bible mean saying "live in reverent fear"?
3-What does the Bible mean saying "taste and see that the Lord is good"?
4-What does the Bible mean saying "Jesus is the Living Stone"?
5-What does the Bible mean saying "Jesus is a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall"?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who said "Oh, that my grief were weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together"?
Answer    Job   6:2

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY   Luke 4:1-13

Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. The Spirit led Jesus into the desert where the devil tempted Jesus for forty days. Jesus ate nothing during that time, and when those days were ended, he was very hungry.
The devil said to Jesus, “If you are the Son of God, tell this rock to become bread.”
Jesus answered, “It is written in the Scriptures: ‘A person does not live on bread alone.’”[a]
Then the devil took Jesus and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in an instant. The devil said to Jesus, “I will give you all these kingdoms and all their power and glory. It has all been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I wish. If you worship me, then it will all be yours.”
Jesus answered, “It is written in the Scriptures: ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”[b]
Then the devil led Jesus to Jerusalem and put him on a high place of the Temple. He said to Jesus, “If you are the Son of God, jump down. 10 It is written in the Scriptures:
‘He has put his angels in charge of you
To watch over you.’ Psalm 91:11
11 It is also written:
‘They will catch you in their hands
So that you will not hit your foot on a rock.’” Psalm 91:12
12 Jesus answered, “But it also says in the Scriptures: ‘Do not test the Lord your God.’”[c]
13 After the devil had tempted Jesus in every way, he left him to wait until a better time.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying manFather, though we don’t know the day nor the hour, You already have the blessed event of Christ’s return on Your divinely appointed calendar.  Even as the Son of Man ascended into heaven He will come again, but this time we have the blessed hope of ascending with Him and joining with those of like precious faith. Thank You for loved ones and witnesses of the truth who have repeated this glorious life-transforming message to us over the years preparing our hearts for this major event. May it be the resounding message from our own lips as we anticipate the glorious moment when we will all be changed in the twinkling of an eye. Help us to be faithful and watching eagerly for the blessed hope of Your second coming where those of us on earth will take up eternal residency in heaven.  In Your name, Jesus, we pray to You as we look for Your reappearing.  Amen.

TODAY WILL NEVER COME AGAIN. BE A BLESSING. BE A FRIEND. ENCOURAGE SOMEONE. TAKE TIME TO CARE. LET YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS HEAL AND NOT WOUND!
