Thursday August 8, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-You cannot develop faith in Jesus if you are disobedient to him-
2-If you don't have Christmas in your heart, you won't find it under a tree-
3-Christmas is not a date on a calendar but a state of mind-
4-The good you do for others is good you do for yourself-
5-At Christmas, remember love is worth more than gold-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Why do you never hear of father in law jokes?

I'VE LEARNED-What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight-build anyway-

DID YOU KNOW-The expectancy of the average mockingbird is ten years-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-There were more than a dozen sacred scrolls that never made it into the Jewish Bible.  Are they of any value to us today?
2-The Apocrypha books are not included in the protestant Bible.  The Catholic Bible has some, the Orthodox Bible  more and other Christian Bibles even more.  Why is there no general agreement which of them belong in scripture?
3-When did the concept of tithing become an accepted church practice?
4-Early church Christians didn't tithe so why do we do so today?
5-Was the concept of tithing a practice under Jewish law?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What apostle was a tax collector from Capernaum?
Yesterday's answer-Matthias    Acts 1:23-26

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY      Acts 13:26-28
26 “Brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and others who worship God, listen! The news about this salvation has been sent to us. 27 Those who live in Jerusalem and their leaders did not realize that Jesus was the Savior. They did not understand the words that the prophets wrote, which are read every Sabbath day. But they made them come true when they said Jesus was guilty. 28 They could not find any real reason for Jesus to be put to death, but they asked Pilate to have him killed.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying man God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Your mercy endures to all generations. Your truths are timeless and Your provisions are abundant to those who call upon your name. Help us to declare Your faithfulness to our own generation and to the generations that follow. Thank you for our ancestors who proclaimed Your faithfulness to their children who in turn passed on spiritual truths to us. And we now have the blessing and responsibility of proclaiming Your faithfulness to our children. Generation by generation we proclaim the salvation that comes through faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.”

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE LOVE TO SHARE, HEALTH TO SPARE AND FRIENDS THAT CARE!
