Monday November 2, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Even those who never heard of Jesus are given a message abut the character of God-
2-Nature is God's first missionary-
3-No one has ever done one thing to enhance the finished work of the cross-
4-We are accepted into heaven on the basis of faith in Jesus alone but are rewarded in heaven on the basis of the fruits of our faith-
5-We are saved by God's grace and rewarded according to our deeds-

STRANGE THOUGHT-random order-

I'VE LEARNED-Prophecy predicts and history reveals what has been in God's mind for all time-

DID YOU KNOW-The oldest know vegetable is the pea-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-If Jesus never placed women in a subservient second class to men, how was it that in actuality over the centuries they were?
2-Did Jesus say that blind obedience to the law of Moses or merciful actions toward the needy were not important?
3-Why does the book of John contain no parables?
4-How many parables did Jesus give in the gospels?
5-What was Matthew's favorite term for pharisees?

BIBLE TRIVIA-This new testament passage is from what old testament book?-"I will have mercy, and not sacrifice"-
Answer for today      Hosea 6:6

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY     Luke 13:6-9
Jesus told this story: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard. He came looking for some fruit on the tree, but he found none. So the man said to his gardener, ‘I have been looking for fruit on this tree for three years, but I never find any. Cut it down. Why should it waste the ground?’ But the servant answered, ‘Master, let the tree have one more year to produce fruit. Let me dig up the dirt around it and put on some fertilizer. If the tree produces fruit next year, good. But if not, you can cut it down.’”

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying man Father, we thank You for Jesus’ death on our behalf making it possible for us to be forgiven and walk in newness of life. Our sin nature no longer dominates, but our spiritual nature becomes the driving force behind our thoughts, our actions, and our conversation. In earnest we seek to bring forth abundantly good fruit which brings praise and glory to You, Father. Seeking personal attention, applause, or praise for our fruit would be gratifying the desires of our sin nature turning our good fruits into rotting, infested, and stench-filled fruit fit only for the waste pile.  Because we love righteousness and loathe sinfulness we never want to live the reverse order again. Help us when we do fall and uphold us so we can stand against the enemy and not lapse into doing things the “old familiar” way. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

MAY YOU HAVE ENOUGH HAPPINESS TO MAKE YOU
SWEET, ENOUGH TRIALS TO MAKE YOU STRONG, ENOUGH SORROW TO KEEP YOU HUMAN AND ENOUGH HOPE TO MAKE YOU HAPPY-
