Monday October 8, 2018 thought for the day

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-God is better to us than we deserve-
2-How we look at life determines how we live life-
3-Anytime we find ourselves doing something we wish we could stop but cannot, it ought to raise some concerns to us-
4-Your heart can be broken--literally-

STRANGE THOUGHT
I've reached the age where "happy hour" is a nap-

I'VE LEARNED
It is okay to be a glow stick.  Sometimes we need to break before we shine-

DID YOU KNOW
Fifty five percent of motorbike accidents happen on the weekend-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Can you only be "saved" if you know you are lost-
2-Should Christianity be presented as a better way of living or the only way to God?
3-Why did Jesus use the reference of a "rock" on which he would build his church-
4-Can we "live in the spirit" and not "walk in the spirit"?
5-After becoming a christian, can you remain a christian without christian teaching?

BIBLE TRIVIA
What prince was riding a mule when he got his hair caught in an oak tree?
Answer for today         Absalom        2 Samuel 18:9

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
2 Peter 1:38     Jesus has the power of God, by which he has given us everything we need to live and to serve God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus called us by his glory and goodness. Through these he gave us the very great and precious promises. With these gifts you can share in God’s nature, and the world will not ruin you with its evil desires.
Because you have these blessings, do your best to add these things to your lives: to your faith, add goodness; and to your goodness, add knowledge; and to your knowledge, add self-control; and to your self-control, add patience; and to your patience, add service for God; and to your service for God, add kindness for your brothers and sisters in Christ; and to this kindness, add love. If all these things are in you and are growing, they will help you to be useful and productive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, I depend on you to empower me to live for you-

MAY YOU HAVE ENOUGH HAPPINESS TO MAKE YOU SWEET, ENOUGH TRIALS TO MAKE YOU STRONG, ENOUGH SORROW TO KEEP YOU HUMAN AND ENOUGH HOPE TO MAKE YOU HAPPY-
