Sunday October 18, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-The source of evil is not God's power but man's freedom-
2-An all powerful God could not have created a world in which people had genuine freedom and yet there was no potentially for sin-
3-Real love must involve a choice, but with the granting of that choice comes the possibility that people would instead choose to hate-
4-The worst tragedy in history brought about the most glorious event in history-
5-Sometimes to be good is not to be kind-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Marijuana initiative-

I'VE LEARNED-Others may hate you, but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them and then you destroy yourself-

DID YOU KNOW-Pepsi is commonly used by wooden boat owners to clean mold from decks.  You can spill it on for about thirty seconds, but it needs to be rinsed to be sure it does not erode the decks completely-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Why do Christians merge conflicting Matthew and Luke versions of Jesus birth into a neat orderly narrative?
2-Who did the angel talk to-Joseph or Mary.  Matthew and Luke tell different stories?
3-The going into Egypt by the Holy Family, and their leaving Egypt, is not mentioned in Luke.  Why not?
4-The angel told Joseph it was okay to return to Judah.  But instead of returning to Bethlehem they went to Nazareth.  Why?
5-In the Bible, how many childless women received heavenly messengers with surprisingly good maternal news?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Where is this commonly used phrase found in the Bible-"Pride goeth before a fall"?
Answer for today     Proverbs 16:18

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY         Luke 12:8-9
“I tell you, all those who stand before others and say they believe in me, I, the Son of Man, will say before the angels of God that they belong to me. But all who stand before others and say they do not believe in me, I will say before the angels of God that they do not belong to me."

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying manFather, You’ve called us to live holy lives set apart for Your intended purpose. By doing so we can more clearly distinguish light from darkness and will keep the forces of evil distant, not allowing them to overtake our heart’s affections. We pray not only for ourselves, but also for our loved ones who are presently in bondage to sin. They do not live apart from the Mindset of the world but rather seek the world’s approval, seeing Your commands as out-of-date, no longer pertinent, or as some like to say, on “the wrong side of history”. Your timeless ancient book, with its precepts, commands and promises is our roadmap as we make our pilgrimage here below. May we not be distracted or stray by partaking of that which will woo us into a life of sin. In Christ Jesus we pray. Amen.

I WISH YOU LOVE IN YOUR HEART-PEACE IN YOUR SOUL- JOY IN YOUR LIFE-ALWAYS-
