Saturday February 9, 2008 thought for the day

HOW IS THIS FOR SOME WINTER ART DESIGNS
Here are my thoughts for today-
1-God is everywhere so pray anywhere-
2-Compromise-choosing something lesser over something better-
3-Compromise-giving up something important to you to get something you want more-
4-When you compromise with evil you always lose-
5-Christians should never be intimidated to witness about their faith-

Strange thought-we often try to fix problems with wd-40 and duct tape-God did it with nails-

I've learned-big problems always start off small-

5 things I want to know
1-Is it possible to give too much tithe or offerings?
2-When we criticize others are we judging them?
3-Should tithe always be given first even if it means other things are left unpaid?
4-Would you steal food to keep your children from going hungry?
5-Is the church looking for conformists rather than individual thinkers?

Scripture for today-"the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous" 1 peter 3:12

I wish you a day filled with love, laughter, forgiveness and thanksgiving-jasper

Jasper,
I have strong conclusions about your tithing comments. 1) Yes, you can give too much tithe and offerings.
1Tim. 5:8 (NIV) If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

3) Many folk have been told to 'put God first' even if it means being late on bills, etc. but a closer look at one of the multiple tithing commands is necessary. The Levitical tithe consists of two parts: a tithe from the planted seed and the tenth herded animal under the rod. If a person had less than 10 in the erd then he did not tithe. The person with 10 animals and the person with 19 animals both gave the same amount - 1 animal. In a sense, God put himself last!!

Tithing was just one of the 600+ laws God gave to the Israelites. Christians were never obligated to tithe although many church traditions teach it.
