Tuesday June 4, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-There is no happiness without action-
2-When all else fails, try, try, try again-
3-It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts to build a home-
4-Observe carefully what guides the actions of the wise and what they shun or seek-
5-You can turn a painful situation around with laughter-
STRANGE THOUGHT-How poor are you when you can't pay attention?
I'VE LEARNED- Without Jesus we cannot fully grasp who God is?
DID YOU KNOW-Moose have very poor vision-
5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-On what basis was Stephen stoned to death?
2-Where did the confrontation between Stephen and the Jews take place?
3-Jews didn't have the authority to execute people for that was Roman law.  So, how did they get away with it?
4-Where was Stephen from and what do we know about him?
5-When had Stephen become a follower of Jesus?
BIBLE TRIVIA  What priest received the boy Samuel as a servant?
Yesterday's answer-Abiathar and Zadok   2 Samuel 20:26
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   Acts 6:5-7
The whole group liked the idea, so they chose these seven men: Stephen (a man with great faith and full of the Holy Spirit), Philip,[a] Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas (a man from Antioch who had become a follower of the Jewish religion). Then they put these men before the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands[b] on them.
The word of God was continuing to spread. The group of followers in Jerusalem increased, and a great number of the Jewish priests believed and obeyed.

Footnotes:

  1. 6:5 Philip Not the apostle named Philip.
  2. 6:6 laid their hands The laying on of hands had many purposes, including the giving of a blessing, power, or authority.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, in Psalm 5 the Psalmist directs His prayer to You:  “O Lord, in the morning will I direct my prayers to You and I will look to You with expectation.” Though You neither slumber nor sleep and certainly have no need for an alarm clock, we know it brings delight to Your ears to hear Your children vocalizing their praises first thing upon awakening to a new day. Your steadfast love never ceases and Your mercies are unending. We declare our praises to You, Faithful Father as You lead us in paths of righteousness. For You bless the godly, O Lord, and surround them with Your shield of love and protection. Amen.
I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING-
