Saturday June 1, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-A country free enough to examine its own conscience is a land worth living in-
2-America will not be a good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in-
3-The future belongs to freedom not to fear-
4-America is more than a country, it is an idea-
5-Those who want to reap the blessings of freedom must undergo the fatigue of supporting it-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Men have three basic hair styles-parted, unparted, departed-

I'VE LEARNED-Poverty and wealth have both failed to bring happiness-

DID YOU KNOW-The Alaskan Moose is the largest deer in North America.  It attains a height at the withers in excess of seven feet and, when fully grown, weighs up to eighteen hundred pounds-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-The upper room was filled with a noise like a mighty windstorm.  Would anyone outside the room in the area have heard it also?
2-Did the ability to speak in another language stay with all the 120 people all their life or for just the time of the Pentecost time?
3-When those in the upper room received the gift of speaking in another language, did they know what they were saying?
4-In the Bible, how often did wind and fire accompany divine appearances?
5-Since Peter was just a fisherman and not a Levi or scribe, how did he know about the old testament prophecies about the resurrection of Jesus and the coming of God's Spirit?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What were the names of the two stones worn in the high priest's breastplate and used to determine God's will?
Yesterday's answer-Mattan  2 Kings 11:18

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY  Acts 5:33-39
33 When the leaders heard this, they became angry and wanted to kill them. 34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel stood up in the meeting. He was a teacher of the law, and all the people respected him. He ordered the apostles to leave the meeting for a little while. 35 Then he said, “People of Israel, be careful what you are planning to do to these men. 36 Remember when Theudas appeared? He said he was a great man, and about four hundred men joined him. But he was killed, and all his followers were scattered; they were able to do nothing. 37 Later, a man named Judas came from Galilee at the time of the registration.[a] He also led a group of followers and was killed, and all his followers were scattered. 38 And so now I tell you: Stay away from these men, and leave them alone. If their plan comes from human authority, it will fail. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop them. You might even be fighting against God himself!”
The leaders agreed with what Gamaliel said.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, we are grateful for Your abundant mercy extended to us because You are a loving, forgiving God. You have called on us, Your children, to be a people of prayer and devotion. We pray for our land to repent of neglect and defiance of Your commands. We come against the powers of darkness that seek to extinguish the light of Your salvation that brings help and hope to weary souls in this life and secures their eternal place in heaven. Help us not to grow weary in our intercession, for we want to be faithful in prayer so that, at a future date, we will witness the harvest of souls. We pray for Your will to be accomplished in the name of Jesus. Amen.

TODAY WILL NEVER COME AGAIN. BE A BLESSING. BE A FRIEND. ENCOURAGE SOMEONE. TAKE TIME TO CARE. LET YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS HEAL AND NOT WOUND.
