Wednesday June 12, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Lord, don't let my expectations limit what you can do in my life, my church, my town-
2-We have no right to reject the words of the Bible or the ideas they present and still claim to be a Christian-
3-God seems to choose the least qualifying material for the accomplishment of some of his greatest achievements-
4-God is not looking for a person to do his work, but he is looking for someone wholly committed to him-
5-Everyone is lost without a savior, but a savior has come for all-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Depression is anger without enthusiasm-

I'VE LEARNED-Denying the existence of God does not make God go away-

DID YOU KNOW-The night vision of tigers is six times better than that of humans-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Did all of the disciples start new churches?
2-Should speaking in tongues be permitted and encouraged in all worship services?
3-Paul said that speaking in tongues is one of the lesser spiritual gifts.  Does that mean we shouldn't seek it but rather seek the greater ones?
4-Is the gift of speaking in tongues easily abused and imitated?
5-After Paul's conversion, he seems to disappear for many years before going on a missionary journey.  Where did he go and what did he do there?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who is the first priest mentioned in the Bible?
Yesterday's answer-Eliashib   Nehemiah 3:1

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY     Acts 7:30-34
30 “Forty years later an angel appeared to Moses in the flames of a burning bush as he was in the desert near Mount Sinai. 31 When Moses saw this, he was amazed and went near to look closer. Moses heard the Lord’s voice say, 32 ‘I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’[a] Moses began to shake with fear and was afraid to look. 33 The Lord said to him, ‘Take off your sandals, because you are standing on holy ground. 34 I have seen the troubles my people have suffered in Egypt. I have heard their cries and have come down to save them. And now, Moses, I am sending you back to Egypt.’[b]

Footnotes:

  1. 7:32 ‘I am . . . Jacob.’ Quotation from Exodus 3:6.
  2. 7:33–34 ‘Take . . . Egypt.’ Quotation from Exodus 3:5–10.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, there have been many times that we acted in faith when it seemed futile in doing so. When we get our eyes on the  challenge it takes our eyes off of you, the One who heals the sick, raises the dead and casts mountains into the depths of the sea. Father, we choose to walk by faith and not by sight. Since all things are possible with You, we choose to believe in those things impossible with man. We do believe and choose to walk in faith until the invisible is made visible either here below or in the eternal heavens. It is in the name of Jesus that we come to You in prayer. Amen.

LIVE SIMPLY! LOVE GENEROUSLY! CARE DEEPLY! SPEAK KINDLY! LEAVE THE REST WITH GOD!!
