Saturday May 19, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Love has the ability to say no as well as yes-
2-You cannot be all things to all people-
3-Loving people is not easy but it is the evidence of God in your life-
4-Anger often comes from feeling unloved-
5-Whoever loves much does much-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Throwing your weight around-

I'VE LEARNED-The poorest person I know is the one who has nothing but money-

DID YOU KNOW-The University of Alaska stretches across 4 time zones-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Is there anyone willing to die for a lie?
2-Is there anyone mentioned in scripture that believed that Jesus would come back to life after his death?
3-Why is there so little in scripture about the life of the resurrected Jesus?
4-Were the Roman soldiers guarding the tomb of Jesus executed for letting Jesus escape?
5-Who prepared Jesus body for burial?

BIBLE TRIVIA-When the Assyrians deported the people of Israel, how many of the twelve original tribes were left?
Yesterday's answer-Gedaliah   2 Kings 25:22

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Matthew 13:10-15
Why Jesus Used Stories to Teach
10 The followers came to Jesus and asked, "Why do you use stories to teach the people?"
11 Jesus answered, "You have been chosen to know the secrets about the kingdom of heaven, but others cannot know these secrets. 12 Those who have understanding will be given more, and they will have all they need. But those who do not have understanding, even what they have will be taken away from them.13 This is why I use stories to teach the people: They see, but they don't really see. They hear, but they don't really hear or understand. 14 So they show that the things Isaiah said about them are true:
'You will listen and listen, but you will not understand.
You will look and look, but you will not learn.
15 For the minds of these people have become stubborn.
They do not hear with their ears,
And they have closed their eyes.
    Otherwise they might really understand
What they see with their eyes
       And hear with their ears.
They might really understand in their minds
And come back to me and be healed.'— Isaiah 6:9

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, we who have received Christ early in our young years are grateful for the solid and lasting foundation we’re building that will provide comfort, solidity, and needed perspective when we approach the golden years of our life here on earth. The older we get the more this earth and all that it has to offer grows dimmer while the lights of glory grow ever brighter. It happens because our eyes are fixed on the eternal city not built with human hands but fashioned and designed by the Builder of the Ages. Keep us true Lord Jesus, for there’s a race to be run and there are victories to be won on this side of heaven. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
