Wednesday December 5, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Don't look forward in fear, look backward in appreciation-
2-God's proof is in his past-
3-Forgetfulness begets fearfulness-
4-Believing prayer ushers in God's peace-
5-God is perfect peace because God is perfect power-

STRANGE THOUGHT-There are no new sins, the old ones just get more publicity-

I'VE LEARNED-Care to know less and know to care more-

DID YOU KNOW-American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating one olive from each salad served in first class-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-If Jesus' human father Joseph died before Jesus was 30, could Jesus have healed him or raised him from the dead?
2-In scripture there is no mention of when Jesus mother and father, Mary and Joseph, died.  Why not?
3-Why shouldn't the disciples have understood Jesus saying he would be killed and then rise again from the dead when they had seen him demonstrate all his divine power?
4-Did the disciples ever experience quarrels and jealousy?
5-Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who was commander of the Israelites under Moses?
Yesterday's answer-Sisera    Judges 4:2

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY  John 8:1-11

Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
But early in the morning he went back to the Temple, and all the people came to him, and he sat and taught them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery. They forced her to stand before the people. They said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught having sexual relations with a man who is not her husband. The law of Moses commands that we stone to death every woman who does this. What do you say we should do?” They were asking this to trick Jesus so that they could have some charge against him.
But Jesus bent over and started writing on the ground with his finger. When they continued to ask Jesus their question, he raised up and said, “Anyone here who has never sinned can throw the first stone at her.” Then Jesus bent over again and wrote on the ground.
Those who heard Jesus began to leave one by one, first the older men and then the others. Jesus was left there alone with the woman standing before him. 10 Jesus raised up again and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one judged you guilty?”
11 She answered, “No one, sir.”
Then Jesus said, “I also don’t judge you guilty. You may go now, but don’t sin anymore.”

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, we so easily consume our mind and energies with offenses we suffer at the hands of cruel and hurtful people. But then we see how Joseph matured in the midst of his cruel treatment, rose above vengeful plotting and a tit for tat attitude, to focus on the bigger picture which was Your plan to save lives. May we rise beyond the foolishness and cruelty of others to see the bigger picture of Your overall plan for our lives. Whatever slight or evil intended by another cannot thwart Your good plan for our life if we are driven by Your Holy Spirit and not the offense. And at times it is in the offense that You conform us to be more like Jesus. You want us to forgive our offender so that we have deep abiding peace in our hearts and unobstructed focus for Your divine guidance in our lives. It is only through You that we can forgive and mature in our Christian walk. Amen.

LIVE SIMPLY! LOVE GENEROUSLY! CARE DEEPLY! SPEAK KINDLY! LEAVE THE REST WITH GOD!!
