Wednesday August 28, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-All morally wrong decisions you make are preceded by a series of unwise decisions that lead you to the brink of disaster-
2-The New Testament knows nothing of a salvation that does not change lives-
3-The fruits of the Spirit are for living and not for taking in-
4-To believe means "by my life"-
5-Once a person has truly encountered God, there is a hungering and thirsting to be in his presence-

STRANGE THOUGHT-In what direction are your eyes facing when you are asleep?

I'VE LEARNED-Our relationship with God is not dependant on what is happening to us-

DID YOU KNOW-A sheep, a duck, and a rooster were the first passengers in a hot air balloon-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Does God know our unexpressed feelings and thoughts?
2-Did Daniel expect to be viciously killed when he was put into the lions den?
3-How much of human fear did Daniel experience when put into the lions den?
4-Was King Darius expecting Daniel to be dead or alive when he went to check on him?
5-Why was Daniel and his friends chosen to serve in the kings palace?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who was supposed to have been flayed to death?
Yesterday's answer-John

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY  15:36-41
36 After some time, Paul said to Barnabas, “We should go back to all those towns where we preached the message of the Lord. Let’s visit the believers and see how they are doing.”
37 Barnabas wanted to take John Mark with them, 38 but he had left them at Pamphylia; he did not continue with them in the work. So Paul did not think it was a good idea to take him. 39 Paul and Barnabas had such a serious argument about this that they separated and went different ways. Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose Silas and left. The believers in Antioch put Paul into the Lord’s care, 41 and he went through Syria and Cilicia, giving strength to the churches.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, as the slide to decadence deepens, we see the influence it has on the Christian church at large. Fearing rejection and mockery from the world or appearing as unsuccessful in the eyes of the world, many church leaders become accepting of the current philosophies and lifestyles prominent in our day, rather than holding to the unchanging standards prescribed through Your commands in Scripture. In the gray areas, help us to be gracious. But in the black and white commands of Scripture help us to be brave, strong and unambiguous in our position and consistent in our example as permissiveness, false prophesies, and weakened leaders dot the landscape. When seekers want the timeless truth of Scriptures rather than the changing truth of our times we will be prepared to guide them to Your eternal truths. Keep us faithful in doing so. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
