Monday April 13, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Sarah laughed at hearing she would have a baby at age of 90.  That was understandable.  But when she lied about doing do, she sinned-
2-In our prayer, God's answers come from God's perspective-
3-It is difficult to let go of what we deeply love-
4-While persistence is good, stubbornness is usually self centered-
5-Pray not for things, but for wisdom and courage-

STRANGE THOUGHT-With a calendar, your days are numbered-

I'VE LEARNED-Unless we do things for others,we miss one of the greatest sources of happiness-

DID YOU KNOW-Spat out food is called chanking-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Why didn't Jesus disciples understand his parables?
2-Is worship primarily personal or corporate-
3-What does it mean to be "overshadowed by the holy Spirit"?
4-Can you be spiritual but not religious or religious but not spiritual?
5-The 10 commandments state "God is a jealous God," yet human jealousy is based on fear and insecurity.  Does this apply to God?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What were Poor Man's Bible?
Today's answer      Picture books widely used in the Middle Ages in place of the Bible.  Used by the illiterate, they were probably the earliest books to be printed.

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY    Mark 14:43-47
43 At once, while Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve apostles, came up. With him were many people carrying swords and clubs who had been sent from the leading priests, the teachers of the law, and the Jewish elders.
44 Judas had planned a signal for them, saying, “The man I kiss is Jesus. Arrest him and guard him while you lead him away.” 45 So Judas went straight to Jesus and said, “Teacher!” and kissed him. 46 Then the people grabbed Jesus and arrested him. 47 One of his followers standing nearby pulled out his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying manFather, thank You for the treasure of Your riches; salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. This treasure which You invite us to partake of stabilizes our hearts when instability surrounds us so much so that even we feel the shaking, kind of like an aftershock. Your salvation, wisdom and knowledge surpass those passing and temporal treasures experienced in this mortal life.  We walk by faith and not by sight, so keep us steadfast in our times as we hold to You, our unshakable foundation, for there is no Rock like You, our God. Keep our eyes on the invisible God, for though we cannot see You we love You and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, as we await our future union in heaven. Amen.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy-
