Monday October 17, 2011 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Feelings of love are the consequences, not the origin of loving acts-
2-Only God is indispensable-
3-Christian love is a set of behaviors not a set of feelings-
4-We can't always help what we see but we can choose what we stare at-
5-The benefit of our trials usually comes to us on a delayed basis-
STRANGE THOUGHT-Houses are twice as big as in 1950, our families are 25% smaller but our attics, basement, closets and garages are so full of stuff that a whole new growth industry, self storage facilities has emerged-
I'VE LEARNED-Purpose is the compass of life-
DID YOU KNOW-Bill Bowerman, founder of Nike, got his first shoe idea after staring at a waffle iron. He got the idea of using squared spikes to make shoes lighter.
5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Why did the Messiah have to be born in a stable and sleep in a feed trough?
2-How many shepherds heard the Good News of Jesus' birth?
3-How many wise men heard the Good News of Jesus' birth?
4-Would Jesus' childhood have been as uneventful as any other Jewish boy of his time?
5-Would Jesus have had playmates when he was a child?
BIBLE TRIVIA-Who heard the divine voice telling him to eat unclean animals?
Yesterday's answer-Isaiah 40:3
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY 1 Corinthians 5:6-8
6 Your bragging is not good. You know the saying, "Just a little yeast makes the whole batch of dough rise."7 Take out all the old yeast so that you will be a new batch of dough without yeast, which you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.8 So let us celebrate this feast, but not with the bread that has the old yeast—the yeast of sin and wickedness. Let us celebrate this feast with the bread that has no yeast—the bread of goodness and truth.
PRAYER FOR TODAY

Praying manFather, there are many promises made by well meaning individuals but circumstances change, people change and many of them fall by the wayside. There are also those who make the pretense of a promise never fully intending to keep it. Their motive is not pure and is self-serving. Help us, as the redeemed, to be people who are trustworthy and not to make a promise that we cannot keep. We are assured that your promises are trustworthy because of that which has already come to pass. We continue to wait for many other promises in the Bible to be fulfilled on the appointed day that You have ordained. Proverbs assures us that “You keep every promise You make. You are like a shield to all who seek Your protection.” What a reassuring truth we, as Your children, can hold onto this day and each day. We give You thanks through Jesus our Lord. Amen.

WISHING YOU LOVE IN YOUR HEART.....PEACE IN YOUR SOUL.....AND JOY IN YOUR LIFE.....ALWAYS!!!
