Sunday August 24, 2014 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Faith is fragile, something that needs tending-
2-The Christian church has always coexisted with heresy-
3-The church is the Christian community and it exists to worship God and live out the
commandment given by Jesus to love God and your neighbor as yourself-
4-Jesus wants to change the way you are thinking so he can change the way you are living-
5-Faith is hope one step farther-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Any tool, nut, bolt, screw when dropped will roll to the least
accessible place in the universe-

I'VE LEARNED-Faith is constant, always there, but surging and ebbing.  Sometimes strongly
evident and at other time barely discernable-

DID YOU KNOW-Millard Fillmore's mother feared he may have been mentally retarded-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Why would God tell Abraham (and why would Abraham obey) to take Isaac and offer him
as a burnt offering when the Jews were specifically forbidden to sacrifice a person?
2-Why did God need to prove Abraham's faith in him?
3-If God knew the outcome of Abraham's faith test, why did he need to do it?
4-Did God not know the heart of Abraham?
5-Did Abraham love the gift of God (Isaac) or God himself?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw Jesus on the right hand of God?
Answer for today    Steven   Acts 7:55

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY  Mark:28-34
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard Jesus arguing with the Sadducees. Seeing that Jesus gave good answers to their questions, he asked Jesus, “Which of the commands is most important?”
29 Jesus answered, “The most important command is this: ‘Listen, people of Israel! The Lord our God is the only Lord. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31 The second command is this: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ There are no commands more important than these.”
32 The man answered, “That was a good answer, Teacher. You were right when you said God is the only Lord and there is no other God besides him. 33 One must love God with all his heart, all his mind, and all his strength. And one must love his neighbor as he loves himself. These commands are more important than all the animals and sacrifices we offer to God.”
34 When Jesus saw that the man answered him wisely, Jesus said to him, “You are close to the kingdom of God.” And after that, no one was brave enough to ask Jesus any more questions.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thankful manFather, the Scriptures, filled with principles and doctrine, come alive when applied to everyday life. We see this when reading the positive and negative examples of Bible characters and the way they handled everyday disappointment and conflict in their lives. Though Paul and Barnabas were in sharp disagreement they surely both made important points regarding the merit of John Mark’s qualifications. Help us to exercise the gift of disagreeing a point without being a disagreeable person. Instead of slandering an individual(s) help us to respect differing views when the answer isn’t clearly laid out in Scripture. As we prayerfully discuss our differences and remain respectful toward one another we will be bound all together in perfect unity, bearing with each other and forgiving the one we have a grievance against. We will forgive as You have forgiven us.  And over these virtues we will put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

I WISH YOU LOVE IN YOUR HEART.....PEACE IN YOUR SOUL.....AND JOY IN YOUR LIFE.....ALWAYS!!!
