Saturday December 6, 2014 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-When you are praying the promises of God you can pray with confidence-
2-When on the cross Jesus said "it is finished" it wasn't just the final installment on our sin debt.  It was also the down payment on all his promises-
3-Prayer was never meant to be a monologue, it was meant to be a dialogue-
4-The Bible is a promise book as well as a  prayer book-
5-One of the by products of answered prayer is that it gives us the faith to believe God for even bigger miracles-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Age-a high price to pay for maturity-

I'VE LEARNED-What counts is what you learn after you know it all-

DID YOU KNOW-According to Elvis's autopsy, he had ten different drugs in his body at the time of his death-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-What was the reaction when the resurrected people appeared to the living?
2-How did the religious leaders react to the resurrected dead bodies?
3-Since Joseph and Mary were probably economically poor, is it probable they would not have had burial places?
4-Jesus knew his death was coming, why didn't he leave burial instructions?
5-Since Joseph's name is not mentioned in the crucifixion story, it is assumed that at Jesus' death he would already have died.  Where was he buried and would it have included a spot for Mary or any other family members?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Which apostle did Jesus enable to walk (briefly) on water?
Answer for today  Peter    Matthew 14:28-31

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY    Mark 2:23-28
23 One Sabbath day, as Jesus was walking through some fields of grain, his followers began to pick some grain to eat. 24 The Pharisees said to Jesus, “Why are your followers doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath day?”
25 Jesus answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and those with him were hungry and needed food? 26 During the time of Abiathar the high priest, David went into God’s house and ate the holy bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And David also gave some of the bread to those who were with him.”
27 Then Jesus said to the Pharisees, “The Sabbath day was made to help people; they were not made to be ruled by the Sabbath day. 28 So then, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.”

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying man Father, it was faithful Joshua who issued this challenge to the Israelites: “Choose this day whom you will serve.” He reminded them that their fathers, before crossing over the Red Sea, lived among those who worshiped heathen gods in Egypt just as they now lived among the Amorites who worshiped heathen gods.  This passage serves as an example to those of us currently experiencing the results of a pluralistic society where God our Creator is being viewed as just one of the gods we might be devoted to. But we hold steady to the words of Scripture, “that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no other.” Like the followers in Scripture, “We want our hearts therefore to be wholly true to the Lord our God, walking in His statutes and keeping His commandments.” If it requires that we lay down our life for You, may we do so willingly, knowing that full obedience to You on this side brings great reward in the eternal dwelling that follows. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

TODAY WILL NEVER COME AGAIN. BE A BLESSING. BE A FRIEND. ENCOURAGE SOMEONE. TAKE TIME TO CARE. LET YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS HEAL AND NOT WOUND!
