Sunday January 25, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-The empty tomb is the ultimate proof that Jesus' resurrected body was the same body that died on the cross-
2-If Jesus' resurrected body was a new body, it wouldn't have had the crucifixion marks-
3-We do not just say what we believe, we end up believing what we say-
4-The expression "heaven and earth" is a biblical expression for the entire universe-
5-However great the wonders of heaven, God himself is heaven's greatest prize-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Why were the American Indians the first people of North America---they had reservations-

I'VE LEARNED-It is the heart that makes a man rich.  He is rich according to what he is, not what he has-

DID YOU KNOW-Charles Dickens never finished his schooling-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-When God said "Be ye holy as I am holy" was he asking for perfect behavior or perfect devotion?
2-What sin did Moses and Aaron commit when they called water out of a rock for the people?
3-Who was the man Korah who led a rebellion against Moses' leadership?
4-While Moses was leading the Israelites, was he God's favorite son?
5-Was Moses always supported by his brother and sister in all of his decisions?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What miraculous occurrence delivered Paul and Silas from prison in Philippi?
Answer for today      an earthquake   Acts 16:25-33

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY
25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing songs to God as the other prisoners listened. 26 Suddenly, there was a strong earthquake that shook the foundation of the jail. Then all the doors of the jail broke open, and all the prisoners were freed from their chains. 27 The jailer woke up and saw that the jail doors were open. Thinking that the prisoners had already escaped, he got his sword and was about to kill himself.[a] 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t hurt yourself! We are all here.”
29 The jailer told someone to bring a light. Then he ran inside and, shaking with fear, fell down before Paul and Silas. 30 He brought them outside and said, “Men, what must I do to be saved?”
31 They said to him, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved—you and all the people in your house.” 32 So Paul and Silas told the message of the Lord to the jailer and all the people in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took Paul and Silas and washed their wounds. Then he and all his people were baptized immediately.

Footnotes:

  1. 16:27 kill himself He thought the leaders would kill him for letting the prisoners escape.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying man Father, it was faithful Joshua who issued this challenge to the Israelites: “Choose this day whom you will serve.” He reminded them that their fathers, before crossing over the Red Sea, lived among those who worshiped heathen gods in Egypt just as they now lived among the Amorites who worshiped heathen gods.  This passage serves as an example to those of us currently experiencing the results of a pluralistic society where God our Creator is being viewed as just one of the gods we might be devoted to. But we hold steady to the words of Scripture, “that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no other.” Like the followers in Scripture, “We want our hearts therefore to be wholly true to the Lord our God, walking in His statutes and keeping His commandments.” If it requires that we lay down our life for You, may we do so willingly, knowing that full obedience to You on this side brings great reward in the eternal dwelling that follows. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

I WISH YOU LOVE IN YOUR HEART.....PEACE IN YOUR SOUL.....AND JOY IN YOUR LIFE.....ALWAYS!!!
