Tuesday January 13, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Most people are inclined to tell the truth usually only when it benefits them-
2-Personal heart change is a necessary first step toward personal life change-
3-"Love your neighbor as yourself"-
4-"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good"-
5-Jesus showed his love by his willingness to suffer-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Today is the oldest you have ever been, yet the youngest you'll ever be-

I'VE LEARNED-People will forget what you said or did but they will never forget how you made them feel-

DID YOU KNOW-Roger Ebert is the only film critic to have ever won the Pulitzer Prize-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-What old testament man had the most children?
2-Did Jacob marry both Leah and Rachel in a weeks time?
3-How could Jacob get through the wedding ceremony, the dinner party and the wedding night without seeing his surprise bride or hearing her voice?  Was he drunk?
4-Why did Jacob offer to work for Laban for seven years for Rachel to be his wife?
5-Who stopped Abraham from killing his son on the altar-an angel or God himself?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Where was Jesus doing his healing work when he caused the chief priests and the scribes to be angry?
Answer for the day       In the temple        Matthew 21:14-16

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY
14 The blind and crippled people came to Jesus in the Temple, and he healed them. 15 The leading priests and the teachers of the law saw that Jesus was doing wonderful things and that the children were praising him in the Temple, saying, “Praise[a] to the Son of David.” All these things made the priests and the teachers of the law very angry.
16 They asked Jesus, “Do you hear the things these children are saying?”
Jesus answered, “Yes. Haven’t you read in the Scriptures, ‘You have taught children and babies to sing praises’?”[b]

Footnotes:

  1. 21:15 Praise Literally, “Hosanna,” a Hebrew word used at first in praying to God for help. At this time it was probably a shout of joy used in praising God or his Messiah.
  2. 21:16 ‘You . . . Praises.’ Quotation from the Septuagint (Greek) version of Psalm 8:2.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying man Father, we thank You for the greatest hero of our faith, Jesus Christ, who took on flesh, walked in holiness and gave His all, that we might have access to You and become Your children. But You’ve also chosen ordinary folks who walk right alongside us in our earthly journey who have taken us by the hand, tucked us in their heart, and committed us to prayer, while also living in a manner worthy of honor. We do give them our utmost respect and honor, and pray that You will bless them and assure them that their investment will bring eternal reward. We give You thanks for their life, their devotion to us, and the lasting difference it has made in us. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING!
