Monday February 2, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Contentment is more valuable than the things you acquired because of your discontent-
2-If you feed an appetite, it grows.  Satisfying an appetite does not diminish it, it expands it.  To diminish an appetite you have to starve it-
3-If you first give yourself to the Lord, all other giving is easy-
4-Your success with regard to wealth is determined by your objectives of wealth-
5-Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see-

STRANGE THOUGHT-The average person's idea of a good sermon is one that goes over his head and hits a neighbor-

I'VE LEARNED-No gift is too small to give, nor too simple to receive which is wrapped in thoughtfulness and tied with love

DID YOU KNOW-The term devil's advocate comes from the Roman Catholic Church.  When deciding if someone should be sainted, a devil's advocate is always appointed to give an alternative view.

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-If God was against the Israelites having a king, why did he let the people change his mind and have Saul become the first one?
2-What was King Saul's downfall?
3-What occupation did Saul have before he was anointed king?
4-Jezebel was married to King Ahab of Israel.  From where had she come?
5-Why did King Ahab give Jezebel so much freedom to establish a false religion of the god Baal?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What did Moses do to heal the bitter waters of Marah?
He cast a tree into the waters          Exodus15:23-25

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY
23 Then they came to Marah, where there was water, but they could not drink it because it was too bitter. (That is why the place was named Marah.[a]) 24 The people grumbled to Moses and asked, “What will we drink?”
25 So Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree. When Moses threw the tree into the water, the water became good to drink.
There the Lord gave the people a rule and a law to live by, and there he tested their loyalty to him.

Footnotes:

  1. 15:23 Marah This name means “bitter.”

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
 Thankful man
Father, when the woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of Your garment she was made whole.  When Daniel came in contact with the heavenly being he was greatly strengthened.  As we experience Your touch we too are strengthened as we receive godly knowledge and spiritual understanding. Help us in tarrying as we await Your answers to our prayers.  Amen.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy-
