HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Your life is not over but your past is-
2-There is no pillow so soft as a clear conscience-
3-The way to get what you want is to want less-
4-The simple message that changed the world forever was "He is not here, he
is risen..."
5-The nail pierced hand of Jesus reveals the love filled heart of
God-
STRANGE THOUGHT-Telephones never nap when we do-
I'VE LEARNED-There are 5 deadly words used by a woman-1 Fine, 2 nothing, 3
Go ahead, 4 whatever, 5 that's okay--
DID YOU KNOW-Pyrophobia is the fear of fire-
5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Besides holding the original 10 commandments from God, what was so
special about the ark of the covenant?
2-When in scripture did the Hebrew people become the Jewish people?
3-The people on earth from Adam to Abraham were what race of people?
4-Why are most of the stories in 1 and 2 Chronicles also in 1 and 2 Samuel
and 1 and 2 Kings?
5-Since the Jews broke the covenant with God by sinning so badly that he
took away the promised land, does that mean they are no long God's chosen
people?
BIBLE TRIVIA-Who parted the Jordan by striking it with his mantle?
Elijah 2 Kings 2:8-14
SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY
8 Elijah took off his coat, rolled it up, and hit the
water. The water divided to the right and to the left, and Elijah and Elisha
crossed over on dry ground.
9 After
they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, “What can I do for you before I am
taken from you?”
Elisha said, “Leave me a double share of your spirit.”[a]
10 Elijah said, “You have asked a hard thing. But if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours. If you don’t, it won’t happen.”
11 As they were walking and talking, a chariot and horses of fire appeared and separated Elijah from Elisha. Then Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. 12 Elisha saw it and shouted, “My father! My father! The chariots of Israel and their horsemen!” And Elisha did not see him anymore. Then Elisha grabbed his own clothes and tore them to show how sad he was.
13 He picked up Elijah’s coat that had fallen from him. Then he returned and stood on the bank of the Jordan. 14 Elisha hit the water with Elijah’s coat and said, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” When he hit the water, it divided to the right and to the left, and Elisha crossed over.

Footnotes:
- 2:9 Leave . . . Spirit By law, the first son in a family would inherit a double share of his father’s possessions. Elisha is asking to inherit a share of his master’s power as his follower. He is not asking for twice as much power as Elijah had.
