Monday February 9, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-A daughter may outgrow your lap but she will never out grow your heart-
2-A man does not know the true meaning of love until he holds his first child-
3-There is no need in childhood as strong as the need for a father's love and protection-
4-There is no "if only" in Jesus' vocabulary-
5-Being meek is having power under control-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Dolphins are so intelligent.  Within only a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand at the edge of the pool and throw them fish-

I'VE LEARNED-There is more grace and mercy in Jesus than there is sin in us-

DID YOU KNOW-Carcinomaphobia is the fear of cancer-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Why did God chose Solomon so build Israel's first temple?
2-What was the primary purpose that God had for the Jewish nation?
3-When a census was taken, a tax was to be paid by everyone counted.  What was the tax to be used for?
4-What was wrong with David taking a census?
5-David's taking a census caused God to be so angry that he caused 70,000 people to be killed in a plague.  Why?

BIBLE TRIVIA-When the Israelites in the wilderness complained about lack of water, where did the water come from?
A rock     Exodus 17:1-6

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY
17 The whole Israelite community left the Desert of Sin and traveled from place to place, as the Lord commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water there for the people to drink. So they quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.”
Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why are you testing the Lord?”
But the people were very thirsty for water, so they grumbled against Moses. They said, “Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Was it to kill us, our children, and our farm animals with thirst?”
So Moses cried to the Lord, “What can I do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me to death.”
The Lord said to Moses, “Go ahead of the people, and take some of the elders of Israel with you. Carry with you the walking stick that you used to strike the Nile River. Now go! I will stand in front of you on a rock at Mount Sinai. Hit that rock with the stick, and water will come out of it so that the people can drink.” Moses did these things as the elders of Israel watched.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Thankful manFather, Your patience and longsuffering toward a rebellious, hardhearted people is only possible because of Your loving compassion and tender mercies. You are slow to anger and abounding in love, full of forgiveness and healing. We are the undeserving recipients of Your remarkable redemption made available to all who call upon Your name. Thank You for bearing with us and loving us long before we responded to Your love. Help us to look intently into Your Holy Word and apply its teaching so that we enjoy freedom from sin, unceasing joy, and the promise of eternity spent with You.  With sincerity of heart we praise You and thank You for Jesus in whose name we pray. Amen.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy-
