Sunday March 15, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Our conduct today is affected by what we know of tomorrow-
2-As conditions of our world worsen, Jesus said we shouldn't hang our heads in depression or shake our heads in confusion-
3-The book of Revelations has a two fold purpose--one is to inform of Jesus return and two is to inform of his ultimate reign on the earth-
4-The history of Christianity has been written in the blood of martyrs-
5-Satan is the old testament name for the evil being of hell and the devil is the new testament name-

STRANGE THOUGHT-At a bookstore I asked the clerk where the self help section was.  She said if she told me it would defeat the purpose-

I'VE LEARNED-I'm not young enough to know everything-

DID YOU KNOW-Clans long ago who wanted to get rid of their unwanted people without killing them used to burn down their houses, hence the expression "get fired"-

5 THINGS I WANTED TO KNOW
1-When all the dead in Christ are gathered up, where are their souls and when will they be reunited with their bodies?
2-When are our bodies transformed from mortal to immortal bodies?
3-Scripture says "on that day heaven will pass away with a roaring shout".  Does the word "heaven" mean where God dwells or the universe as we know it?
4-Scripture says that Jesus will return on clouds in the sky.  Why are clouds needed?
5-Where is the "great throne" that Jesus will sit on when he returns?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What was the name of the New Testament paraphrase, done in the style of Southern black tales, written by Clarence Jordan?
Answer for today       The Cotton Patch Version

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY     Mark 10:35-41
35 Then James and John, sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, we want to ask you to do something for us.”
36 Jesus asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”
37 They answered, “Let one of us sit at your right side and one of us sit at your left side in your glory in your kingdom.”
38 Jesus said, “You don’t understand what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I must drink? And can you be baptized with the same kind of baptism that I must go through?”[a]
39 They answered, “Yes, we can.”
Jesus said to them, “You will drink the same cup that I will drink, and you will be baptized with the same baptism that I must go through. 40 But I cannot choose who will sit at my right or my left; those places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”
41 When the other ten followers heard this, they began to be angry with James and John.

Footnotes:

  1. 10:38 Can you . . . Through? Jesus was asking if they could suffer the same terrible things that would happen to him.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying manFather, because the Israelites dwelt in tents in their wilderness wanderings, You instructed that a tabernacle be constructed that would travel with them, where Your presence would abide. Surely the instructions You provided Moses did not always make sense nor would they have fully understood the purpose of all the particulars, yet the Israelites followed the instructions, thereby honoring You and blessing Moses as their leader. They responded to Moses’ instructions by giving, doing, and following in total the directions You laid out. Help us to practice obedience even when we can’t see the end results, for that is what You ask of us; to trust You, yield to You, and fully obey You. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

I WISH YOU LOVE IN YOUR HEART.....PEACE IN YOUR SOUL.....AND JOY IN YOUR LIFE.....ALWAYS!!!
