Saturday July 18, 2015 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-You are responsible to God for what you do for the poor-
2-We are useful to God only to the extent that we allow God to use us-
3-The righteousness that God values is more than refraining from sin, it is actually turning toward others and offering the help they need-
4-We rely on government legislation to protect the moral decisions we want made, but legislation cannot change peoples hearts-
5-Pride separates us from God-
STRANGE THOUGHT-Haunted French pancakes give me the crepes-
I'VE LEARNED-Pretending to be God's representative is dangerous business-
DID YOU KNOW-When two words are combined to form a single word (motor+hotel=motel), (breakfast+lunch=brunch), the new word is called a portmanteau-
5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW-
1-Why didn't the Old Testament mention the Egyptian pyramids?
2-Are there any Biblical laws of Moses that today's Jews and Christians no longer accept?
3-Should adultery be punished by stoning as the Mosaic Law provides for?
4-Is it okay to question anything about the Bible?
5-Is the Bible the final unquestionable word of God?
BIBLE TRIVIA-Who said "O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there, but prophesy not again any more at Bethel"?
ANSWER    Amaziah     Amos 7:12-13
SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY   Luke 7:11-17
11 Soon afterwards Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his followers and a large crowd traveled with him. 12 When he came near the town gate, he saw a funeral. A mother, who was a widow, had lost her only son. A large crowd from the town was with the mother while her son was being carried out. 13 When the Lord saw her, he felt very sorry for her and said, “Don’t cry.” 14 He went up and touched the coffin, and the people who were carrying it stopped. Jesus said, “Young man, I tell you, get up!” 15 And the son sat up and began to talk. Then Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16 All the people were amazed and began praising God, saying, “A great prophet has come to us! God has come to help his people.”
17 This news about Jesus spread through all Judea and into all the places around there.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying man Father, we want to live above the fray of this world as a people of righteousness set apart for Your purpose. We forsake the things of this world that bring disgrace to Your holy name and live for the purpose of bringing glory, honor and praise to You, our Father. We pray for our nation, for the turning away from our sins and turning toward the abundant life we find in Christ our Lord. You’ve called us to repentance and to share the good news of salvation to all who are lost. Help us to seek a fresh calling upon our lives to be obedient in this commission from Scripture.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

TODAY WILL NEVER COME AGAIN. BE A BLESSING. BE A FRIEND. ENCOURAGE SOMEONE. TAKE TIME TO CARE. LET YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS HEAL AND NOT WOUND!
