Friday July 12, 2013 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-The secret to self esteem is to understand how much you matter to God for if God loves you, who cares what anybody else thinks-
2-When our life is over, we won't be remembered by our words but by our deeds-
3-It is not what you gather but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived-
4-Anger is caused by the way you see a situation-
5-An angry person is a hurting person-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Why can't life's biggest problems happen when we are teenagers and know everything?

I'VE LEARNED-The 10 commandments are not a multiple choice listing-

DID YOU KNOW-The jackrabbit is not a rabbit, it is a hare-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Where is the "Kingdom of God" location?
2-Why did Jesus use children as an example of what it takes to be a citizen of God's Kingdom?
3-Did Jesus get violent with the merchants and customers who were conducting business in the temple?
4-Did Jesus show carnal anger or righteous anger toward the desecration of the temple?
5-Is there any record of Jesus displaying anger in addition to the temple confrontation?

BIBLE TRIVIA-According to the book of Hebrews, what Old Testament priest is Jesus like?
Yesterday's answer-Jesus  Hebrews 3:1

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Acts 10:9-16
About noon the next day as they came near Joppa, Peter was going up to the roof[a] to pray. 10 He was hungry and wanted to eat, but while the food was being prepared, he had a vision. 11 He saw heaven opened and something coming down that looked like a big sheet being lowered to earth by its four corners. 12 In it were all kinds of animals, reptiles, and birds. 13 Then a voice said to Peter, “Get up, Peter; kill and eat.”
14 But Peter said, “No, Lord! I have never eaten food that is unholy or unclean.”
15 But the voice said to him again, “God has made these things clean, so don’t call them ‘unholy’!” 16 This happened three times, and at once the sheet was taken back to heaven.

Footnotes:

  1. 10:9 roof In Bible times houses were built with flat roofs. The roof was used for drying things such as flax and fruit. And it was used as an extra room, as a place for worship, and as a cool place to sleep in the summer.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, there are many of Your followers who stand for righteousness that also deal with rejection, mockery, and ridicule from within their own family. As we take up Your cross we must be willing to lose our life, for Jesus tells us that it is at that level of commitmentl that we will actually find our lives. He also warned us that He did not come to bring peace to the earth; families will divide choosing one loyalty over another. Help us to patiently endure, remain steadfast in prayer for our loved one, and regularly exptend our love that comes from You to those who need it most. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

SMILE, LAUGH, FORGIVE, BELIEVE AND LOVE, OVER AND OVER AGAIN!
