Wednesday August 15, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold".  Matthew 24:12 is how Jesus described the condition of peoples hearts in the days just prior to his return-could it be today?
2-The cynic and the optimist both think they are observing reality-
3-Electricity can never get into you unless it can get out of you.  So it is with the gospel of Jesus-
4-No candle which God lights was ever meant to burn alone-
5-It doesn't take a giant flame to light the wick of another candle-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Confidence is the feeling you have just before you really understand the problem-

I'VE LEARNED-Words can break someone into pieces, but they can also put them back together-

DID YOU KNOW-Pro golfer Wayne Levi was the first PGA pro to win a tournament using an orange ball.  He did it in the Hawaiian Open-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Why didn't Samuel remove his two evil sons from their positions of judgeship in Israel?
2-Did Samuel make more than one bad decision while a judge over Israel?
3-Why was Israel discontent with having judges as their country's leaders?
4-Why is it so difficult to confront sin and evil in our own lives?
5-Can you guarantee present success by doing what worked in the past?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What good king of Judah was murdered by his court officials?
Yesterday's answer-Sennacherib    2 Kings 19:37

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    Matthew 25:31-36
31 "The Son of Man will come again in his great glory, with all his angels. He will be King and sit on his great throne.32 All the nations of the world will be gathered before him, and he will separate them into two groups as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 The Son of Man will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 "Then the King will say to the people on his right, 'Come, my Father has given you his blessing. Receive the kingdom God has prepared for you since the world was made. 35 I was hungry, and you gave me food. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink. I was alone and away from home, and you invited me into your house.36 I was without clothes, and you gave me something to wear. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.'

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, we’re reminded by the words of Paul that we are to remain firm when the deluge of deceitful tactics from the enemy comes against us – through the media, books, false prophets and even well-meaning but confused individuals. Your Word is the stabilizing and authoritative manual for all that we need for life and godliness. You promise to bring maturity into our Christian walk as we firmly plant ourselves into the solid teaching of Your Holy Word. We apply Your teaching so that we will attain to the fullness of Your Son, Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone. Help us to be wise, studied, and firmly planted in Christ so that we will not be like children tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

LIVE SIMPLY! LOVE GENEROUSLY! CARE DEEPLY! SPEAK KINDLY! LEAVE THE REST WITH GOD!!
